Date: Sunday, October 22, 2000 1:56 AM Subject: Hi there!
wow, I can't believe you remembered, when we used to hang out in front of the school. In fact Tom Riker was there with us as well. I just spoke to hime for the first time in 15 years last week. he is coming to So Cal on biz in early november, so we are gunna go to dinner. When we talked it was like time stopped it was the same Don & Tom , 25 years ago..lol We sure had a bunch of laffs. I remember you as a real fun and cute girl. BTW I still stay in touch with my ex-g/f Randi Bjorkgren. I'll get into what shes been up to in my next rambling letter.
So after I graduated I was kinda lost, I was a mechanic during high school when I wasn't running track. So when I got out of school, I ended up working in a machine shop in haupauge. During the next few years I served as a tool and die aprrentice. I graduated with the certificate in 1978. By that time me and Randi broke up and i was restles and sick of long island. Then in the winter of 78/79 we had snow storm after snow storm, so I started scannin the help wanted ads. Well one sunday morning in feb. '79 I read a ad saying Machinist come to sunny Southern California, I was like outa here. I moved here in april of '79. I met my wife to be in aug.'79, she is from canada and a nurse. she got recruited by a LA hospital right out of college, so her and her friend moved to so cal the same time I did with my friend Ken Morrison. You might remember his sister Carol. damn I am going on.. sorry
I will try and cut through day to day stuff. I got married in '83, Derek was born in june of '84, stephanie was born Jan.'87. somehow I have managed to stay married unlike most everyone I know. I have remained in the machine biz, but in a different way from the way I started
I have been involved with the selling and marketing of them since'85. this past may I finally made a deal with some people in NY that could be big for me. me and the family actually moved to long island from 11/94 til 7/96. It was fun for the kids to get to know my family, especially since it's pretty big, but during that brief time I met my current partner! Funny how things workout. My two kids are great, derek does fantastic in school he is a junior, and is in 3rd year of japanese, he went to japan last year and is going again in feb. as an 8th grader he scored a 940 on the sat's, last year as a 10th grader , 1200. and yes miss wise ass he gets his brains from his mom!..lol He also takes these ap courses(advanced placement) they are college courses, and he's getin a's in them. my daughter is my bud, she goes to the races with me all the time. yea, I skipped that part, I have always been invoved in auto racing, in fact as a senior in h/s I raced at Islip and riverhead a few times. well I know sponsor and crew for a very sucsesful racing team here in so cal. well I think I have rambled on a bit too much, plus its gettin late. in fact I just got home from the race track a lil bit ago, we finished 3rd btw.
well it sounds like you have done well, please email me and tell me all the details of your last 25 years. hey did you ever marry?
Your pic on your profile looks great!
Take care love..Don Barnes

Darlene Kirby
We went to school together, you laughed with me & cried with me.
We learned together, We did things as friends I will always treasure.
Sports, walks, games we played, tag, hide & seek, skinned knees,
...stories of butterfly in your tummy kisses.
First dates, we were soul mates.
I thought you would always be here to share these wonderful things.
You have left us, nothing new to try.
We wanted to grow old with you in our lives,
to share with our kids, husbands & wives
We keep you alive with each story & memory
In our hearts forever you will be......with me.

To all those who have left us behind to carry on and tell the world
just how wonderful they really are. To share not only our happiness but theirs as well.

Darlene Kirby, you were my friend & my chosen sister.
I love you now & I loved you then.
Thankx for always being there for me!
