Hi Everybody:
Recently a group of the class of 1957 met for lunch at the Culinary Institute in Central Islip.

The attendees were, Eleanor Steckerider Ruk, Jeanne Greishaber Dorrian, Lois Marhoun McCourt, Dan Devine, and Anna Kurtz Smith.  The food was great!  They offered roast beef, poached salmon, chicken marsala, bouillabaisse, carrots & green beans, fried potatoes, rice pilaf, various salads, assorted homemade breads and rolls, and a table of scrumptious desserts.

A few notes from people who were unable to attend: John O'Kane says Aloha to everyone!  John Buckley sends his regards, he is just recently back from FL and is too busy to socialize right now. The Dunphy's, Pat & Bill would like everyone to know that their oldest grandchild was recently accepted to West Point.  Barbara Lewis Fichter could use some prayers and cards from all of us!  One of her chemo medications didn't work and her tumor has doubled instead of decreasing.

While we were at the luncheon, we found out that the Culinary portion of the college is going to stay in Central Islip.  While there were only five of us in attendance that day, we did have a conversation regarding our 50th Anniversary celebration  which will be in 2007!   While that seems far off, as you know time goes quickly and we need to get a plan in motion.  Initially, Margie Lenz did a survey inquiring how many people would be interested in a cruise to celebrate this milestone. Unfortunately, there was not enough in favor of doing this.  The general consensus seems to be that we hold the reunion in the town that we graduated from.  Keeping this in mind, we need some more input from all of you.  We thought if we tried to turn it into a memorable weekend it might entice more of you to attend.

Some ideas we entertained were to buy a block of tickets for a Long Island Duck's baseball game (which stadium as you may know is right in CI) or buy a block of tickets for a play at one of the area Playhouses.  Any and all suggestions are welcome from all of you.  There was also a suggestion that we try to make the reunion at a time when the firehouse is having tournaments or combine it with the all years picnic that is usually held on the island.
We would like our 50th Reunion to be really memorable for all of us.  In order to do that WE NEED INPUT FROM OUR ENTIRE CLASS OF 1957 TO HELP DECIDE

Some things we need your input is what time of year would be the most convenient for all of you, which would of course impact what activities we could schedule.  We thought if we could fill a weekend it would be more appealing to more of you.  Which is a better time?  June, July, August or September?  Depending on the choice of time, we can either use the NYIT Epicurean Room Restaurant or go back to The Irish Coffee Pub or any other suggestion you might offer us. With all of this in mind would you answer a few questions for us?
1- Location?  local ____ sea_____
2- Time of year?  Spring____Summer____Fall____Winter____
3- Baseball Game?
4- Local play?
5- Picnic?
6- Firemen's tournament?
7-Other activities?
Please share any idea that you might have regarding our 50th celebration, we are open to anything.  What can we do to get all of you back here for this celebration?  Just tell us, we want you here!

Please return your responses back to me so we will have a starting point to work from.  Look forward to hearing from all of you.
