Who Are You Toasting?: All - what a wonderfull group. Everyone has come together to share our thoughts, Our hopes, our laughter and our tears. This site is a window into a past where we all have memories of our high school years, our families, our neighbors, our friends and our dreams. From: eileen 76 I'd like to make a Toast to: Miss Armstrong For: empowering me to have a say in this society. For making me believe then that I was just as important as any one else and giving me the gutts to act on it! I want to toast Mr. Parise, Mr. Solaski, Mr. Reeth and Mrs. Kelly for instilling in me a love of language and literature. I dedicate my late-in-life BA in English to you. Your encouragement and passion have stayed with me all these years and I hope to tap into that passion as I continue on to my Masters degree in Literature. Thank you. Elena Ahrens
I want to make two toasts. One to Mr. Solaski and Mr. Brace. For their patience, freindship and for teaching me to appreciate life and to stand up for myself and my beliefs! The other toast is to my Dad. He has taught me over and over again that there is no mountain too high, that I can do or be anything I want to if I just try hard enough. He also taught me to appreciate every day of life. To be thankful when I wake up in the morning that I did wake up and will hopefully have the opportunity to do so again tomorrow. I've learned from him the true meaning of loyalty, trust and integrity. I'm so proud to be his daughter! Ardeen
I"d like to Make a TOast to Donald Meehan. HE was around from the time I was in 7th grade till the end. As a Dean, he helped me with some family personal problems from 9th grade -1oth & then as pricncipal he was instrumental in my graduating from CI with my class despite the fact that my family moved to Selden in my senior year. and legally i SHOUDN"T have graduated with them. He was ALWAYS there for me in helping me work out the problems ( and there were many & they were large) between home & school. I'd like to toast Jim Parise for his love of teaching & his unconventional way of doing so.....simon & Garfunckle... Richard Corey , Requiem for the Masses, I AM A Rock....... teaching tempered with laughter.....YOu definitely had it!!! I'd like to Toast Kitty Macie for being my "adopted" MOTHER and putting some patience into my life. I'd like to Toast Nanci Balsamo for being my best friend from tne day we met in October 1971. we have been through it ALL together & I love her with all my heart. thiry years later..........still goin strong and lastly I would ALSO like to toast Eileen Moschinger for doing it & doing it so well & making it seem effortless. I'd like to make a toast to Mr. Hudson,9th(and 10th) grade science teacher.I loved him,even when he failed me in 9th.I went to him to complain about the "F" and he said,"I didn't fail you,YOU FAILED YOU!"He taught me that I was responsible for the things that happened in my life.AND...I met my Husband in his class...Rm.302!Here's to you Mr. H. It takes a special kind of person to be where your are, doing the things you do for those who cannot do for themselves. I admire your kindness, spirit and generous soul! I'm glad to know you! Ardeen F. 82 In no particular order, I'd like to make a slew of (non-alcoholic) toasts to: Alexandria '00 I would like to toast Liz Armstrong, R.D. Nash and all those involved in the theater they helped produce at CI High. To this day I can recall the fun I had in the productions of "Guys and Dolls", "West Side Story" and "Camelot" and the way those two teachers were able to present an alternative to the Nixonian days we lived in. I toast dear Monica Linss with whom I shared my first on stage kiss in "A Snowflake, Under The Conditions" which was Mr. Nash's first play to be performed on stage. I was saddened to read her memorial at the alumni site. I toast Amy Hemple. A dear young lady taken before her time. I toast Bill Macy. I may be one of the few people who heard the songs he wrote for his musical "Matathias Jones". I'd love to tell him that he was right all along. I toast the entire Welsch family for their radical love of life and commitment to social justice. And I toast Gail Williams. Even though I'm a grandfather now, I still remember the warmth of her smile. Happy New Year to all |
