Summer Night
By Michael Rogers

Still, still pause of Summer.
Quiet calm after night becomes.
Fireflies glimmer and sprinkle light,
Like distant stars in the charcoal night,
Stars for an instant glowing bright.
I feel so free among the stars,
In balance with the universe,
Knowing a moment of simple peace,
The stars and the fireflies and me,
Joined by the quiet night’s embrace.
