Dee Ann Grecu

Dee Ann Grecu is one of twelve Indiana authors featured in Inspiration From the Heartland; her section includes four short stories and two poems. The book features the writing of emerging Indiana authors and is the second of three in the Indiana Authors 2007 series published by New Century Publishing. In Chapter 32 of Gone with the Wind, Scarlett O'Hara realizes her deep love for the red clay of Tara; Dee feels the same way about Indiana. Her maternal ancestors founded Fortville, and her paternal predecessors tilled the fertile soil of Boone County. Born and raised an Indiana girl, she is happily married to an Indiana boy, and together they have lived in ten different states. Returning to Indiana in 1999, however, made her truly feel back home again. Dee and her husband have three daughters who are collectively the light of her life and her greatest inspiration.
Dee does not remember a time when she did not write. Most of her work has been in the form of poetry and short stories. Several very much alive family members have requested she write their eulogies after hearing tributes Dee composed for family funerals. With people dying to hear her work, she decided to claim the title of "writer" and fulfill the blazing desire to share her writing beyond family and friends.
She is working on a poetry collection for release in early 2008; a short story collection and a non-fiction work are also in progress. Dee organized and leads a writing critique group, has taken several creative writing classes, and writes, writes, writes, often deep into the night.
