A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Courteney Cox Arquette moved to New York City after her graduation from high school and was subsequently signed by the Ford Modeling Agency. Shortly thereafter, the stunning Cox Arquette (who was People magazine's 1995 cover girl for the '50 Most Beautiful People' issue) was appearing in magazines and television commercials.

In 1984, Cox Arquette made her acting debut on the daytime drama 'As the World Turns,' but she got her first big break later that year when she was cast by director Brian DePalma in Bruce Springsteen's music video, 'Dancing in the Dark.'

Before 'Friends,' Cox Arquette's most memorable television series role was that of Lauren, Alex P. Keaton's (Michael J. Fox) girlfriend on 'Family Ties.' Her other television credits include regular series roles on 'Misfits of Science' and 'The Trouble with Larry,' as well as guest-starring parts on such hits as 'Murder, She Wrote,' NBC's 'Seinfeld' and the cable series 'Dream On' and 'The Larry Sanders Show.' She has starred in several television movies, including 'Roxanne: The Prize Pulitzer,' 'Battling for Baby' and 'Curiosity Kills,' as well as in the miniseries ''Til We Meet Again' based on Judith Krantz's best-selling novel.

On the big screen, Cox Arquette starred as television reporter Gale Weathers in the hit thrillers 'Scream' 'Scream 2' and 'Scream 3', where she worked with her now husband, David Arquette. She also starred opposite Jim Carrey in the comedy 'Ace Ventura: Pet Detective', and most recently co-starred opposite Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell in the film '3000 miles to Graceland'. Her other feature films include 'Commandments,' 'Down Twisted,' 'Masters of the Universe,' 'Cocoon: The Return,' 'Shaking the Tree,' 'Mr. Destiny' and 'Blue Desert.' Most recently, Cox Arquette completed a starring role opposite Kenneth Branagh in the film 'Alien Love Triangle,' due to be released in 1999.

On stage she starred in 'King of Hearts' at the Tiffany Theater in Los Angeles.

Cox Arquette, who wanted to be an architect when she was growing up, enjoys remodeling and decorating homes in her spare time. She currently lives in Los Angeles. Her birthday is June 15.
