Recognition and Awards

Though she has been making art jewelry for only six years, Marcia Herson has gained much recognition.  Marcia was juried into the nationally known League of New Hampshire Craftsmen four years ago.  She recently became one of "The League's" jurors for Polymer Clay.  In 1999, she received the prestigious Edith Haskell Tappen award (from the GFWC Juniors) at the League of New Hampshire's 66th Annual Craft Fair.

She was featured on the "New Hampshire Made" segment of WMUR's news program in both l998 and 2000.

In February and March of 2000, The Farmer's Market presented a One Person Show of Ms. Herson's work.

The Lapidary Journal featured one of her pieces in its April, 2000 issue (p. 12).

An article she wrote was published in the summer issue of Studio PMC, a newsletter devoted to innovations in Precious Metal Clay. One of Marcia's pieces combining a PMC (fine silver) frame with polymer woven beads is featured in the current PMC Studio. She is scheduled to have an article in the newsletter's up-coming fall issue.

Local newspapers have charted her progress with feature articles in the Bedford Bulletin in 1998 and l999 and in a recent front page article on June 22, 2000 in the Bedford Journal.

One of Marcia's pins was incorporated into the post card advertising for the Craftwear section of the 67th Annual League of NH Craftsmen's Fair in August, 2000.

Ms. Herson will be one of the artisans chosen to participate in the month-long celebration of American Craft at Dartmouth College (Hanover, NH) August-September, 2000.
