"Let there be light." -God

Light is great. Without it I couldn't see anything and I'd always be running into things. It illuminates the darkness. That's what I like about it.

But hold on, I do intend to say something interesting besides "it's umm... bright"! I'll get there eventually.

What does light do for us? Well, it helps us know what's around us. That's why we depend on it to keep us from falling down the stairs (and sometimes even that's not good enough... not that I'm speaking from experience of course).

Ok then, let's use a similar argument I've heard against a different subject:

People use Light as a crutch to keep them from getting hurt.

We probably do. But would we want to give up Light because of it? Some people would and that's ok for them. But most of us want to enjoy the pleasures of Light, and additionally, color, shape, and everything else we see. If it weren't for Light, we wouldn't have ever seen any of the great stuff we've seen. So does that make Light good? Ask anyone who's experienced the good things about it. Of course it does! Does that make Light necessary? Most everyone would say yes as well... But what about people who have never seen it?

Blindness is a problem with the eyes, brain, anything, that prevents a person from being able to see. So if you are born blind, your eyes never recieve and transmit the image of Light. Millions of people go their whole lives without Light and live just as well off. They never miss it. A blind person is in the easiest position to say that those who see use Light as a crutch.

And once again, we probably do. But until you've experienced it to the fullest, you can neither appreciate it nor criticize it. I think it's great how those who are blind get on very well without their sight. It's amazing what they can do that we can't even try to do.

Light is good for you. There are other things that are good in life, so before you criticize something you don't know much about, try to find out more about it. Not so you can criticize it better. But so you can know why there happen to be other people who like it.

There's a reason for that!
