Phase
By Joseph Dunlap
I saw the moon in half tonight,
The top of it dissever;
For that the violence of man
Would not keep it whole forever.
How can it be man's delight
To let beauty die? Save he can
Never.
Brightly shone on still this light
Despite its many wounds about
Its head, which the world had cast;
And all the while as if to shout:
"You know not what you do this night,
For I am light; can you, pray last
Without?
"Were you here to see my birth?
Were you witness to my genesis?
How then can you compare at all
Your might to light? Such is a synthesis
Of lies, if only you knew their worth.
You know not, and this you call
Innocence."
And thusly then for a short while
Longer did the battle rage askew
'Till at last did win the night.
A short while it reigned, but abrew!
Was defeat, and with a smile
Rose the Sun, and the world received light
Anew.
Plaigerism is bad. It steals the ideas of others and claims to have said them first. It's lying. It's also illegal. I wrote this. You may quote portions of it if you like, but please be honest. -Joseph Dunlap
