The Devil and Lilly E. Gray
Musings and the latest news on my ongoing investigation to uncover the story of Utah's most mysterious grave...
Narcissus

The flowers on Elmer's stone may be quite revealing.  They are clearly daffodils, otherwise known as NARCISSUS. According to Keister's book Stories in Stone, the daffodil as used in funerary art can have the negative conotations associated with narcissism of vanity and self-love.  It could also indicate triumph over these quailties, thus representing divine love and sacrifice.  Either way, it is quite interesting that the Narcissus was chosen for Elmer's grave.

The beast sent Lilly Gray to the grave
history of what happen was never saved
time may tell, the stone may say
but for us we must kneel and pray

they say 666 is the mark
but numbers can't be seen in the dark
for her death maybe our dismay
was it on the devils day

her legand may be underground
was she heaven or hellbound
was her tale a one with twists
does her headstone as her lifestyle fit

as the flowers on her marker bloom
can be seen night or day
is this something sinsiter,someting gloom
or did she just do it her way

Lilly's story may baffle or confound
"devils lantens" looking down
obvious connection assume a clue
or Aleister Crowley just collected his dues

here's a thought to throw at you.....what if she was poessed? i mean we all heard of anneliese michele being poessed by the devil himself. so, what if thats what the inscription meant? and as far as elmer, with the flowers, maybe he sacrificed himself trying to save her? or was it him that was poessed and her that died by his hand?
