After seeing Batman Begins a few weeks prior to seeing this I was thinking that this was the best time to be both a movie fan and a comics fan. All these great comic book movies are coming out and it was going to be great, just great. Turns out that someone forgot to tell that to Marvel. This movie sucked ASS! I hate movies made by M. Night because they are unoriginal and that I know the ending before I know the main character's first name and blah blah, but this movie hurt closer to home in that I am not only a comics fan but that I was a marvel fan before anything and the FF were one of my first comics. I think I know more about them than any other comic book. So when you make Sue Doom's lackey or Johnny into a pilot, how do you think I am going to feel? I try to detach myself from the comic book fan that I am and try to like the movie on its own merits, but this movie sucked as a movie on its own as well! Random points on why I hate this movie, first as a comic book adation then as a movie on its own.
They made Doom a clone of Norman Osborne from Spiderman: head of a corporation, slimey dealer and what not. Nothing to do with Latveria, or him being a king. His motivation in the movie was insanity, not arrogance. He is exposed to the same cloud as the FF, so he gets powers. What powers? Something like he is made of metal and conducts electricity. Uh, that's not Doom. I understand changing somethings because the audience is not familiar with the comics or to save time, but these things don't do either! They spent so much time explaining the background that they just should have done the actual background. Sue is not a scientist! The only thing I thought was true to the source material was that Ben and Johnny were always joking with each other, and maybe how they made Reed fight. The FX weren't that bad. Story was terrible.
As a movie it still sucked because the only thing I can remember formt he movie was Jessica Alba's chest. Seriously, how many times did they show her with low cut shirts? She turns invisible then becomes visible while only wearing underwear. That was great be I can to see the FF, not her. More fight scenes! If the story is going to suck put more fight scenes! Not even that was in here!
Overall I won't being seeing this again on purpose. I would write more but I guess I used up all my ranting on Matt and Jen over the course of the weekend.
