Matt and I constantly bicker back and forth over which is better, console gaming or computer gaming. I say consoles are better
since you have better control over the game since each button only does certain things and they are the only ones there.
On a keyboard, there are all those other keys that do nothing or worse they do and it wasn't what you wanted. I need to use my thumbs, not my pinky!
Matt says that you have more control with a keyboard and mouse. Aiming at a target with a mouse is more accurate and faster
than in a console game. I think it is just skill that matters there. He doesn't play a lot of console games. To be fair, I don't
play a lot of computer games. The only time I prefer a game on computer is a strategy game like Age of Mythology or something.
The pointing ability of a mouse is good for those times when you are just laying down troops or whatever. Another thing that I will
consede is that weapon selection on a computer is easier since each weapon can be called immediately using the function keys or
the number buttons. Scrolling through the list using A and B on a controller is tedious and during a fire fight time is of the essence.
But I am always willing to give up the easy weapon selection for better control over my movements. If you are good are manuvering, you can tkae the time to
select your weapon.
I look at it with an engineer's perspective, a console is designed solely for the purpose of gaming. A computer is designed to be
multifunctional. Multifunctional devices are never as good as something design for a single purpose only. An example of
what I mean is the effectiveness of tires in winter: winter only tires grab the road better than all-season tires. Another reason
I prefer console games is that in a few years they are still enjoyable since games are still made for them or are available at a
flea market. Computer games are only for certain configurations that of which will be obselete in a few months. Plus doesn't a game look better on a
big screen?
