The Best and Worst in Entertainment for 2005

I am doing this again because currently I am stuck in my last days at my job (I gave my notice last week). So I am just riding this out. Meaning that once again I am going to do this for no other reason then to do it. Here is the problem, I don't have last year's picks in front of me, so I may repeat myself or forget somehtings. Oh well, here are my choices for this year's article:

Sci-Fi TV Series

Best Sci-Fi TV Series: Stargate-SG1
I said this one last year for sure, but this year it was better. The plotlines the resolved and new ones created were great. Continuity and eveyrthing I love in a show. I don't know what to say that I haven't already said.

Worst Sci-Fi TV Series: Star Trek: Enterprise
It brings me great shame to put this on the list under this heading. The funny thing is, I think I put this under the nest of the year 2004. It was in its 3rd season. I wrote the 3rd season momentum article just after it ended, not knowing that the 4th season would suck ass. Nothing exciting ever happened. I can't even remember what the major story arcs were. It was terrible and was the first Star Trek show since the original series to be cancelled. It had very low ratings. There was one or two episodes that I liked but that was it. It failed, that's all I have to say.

Best Ever Sci-Fi TV Series: Stargate-SG1
Yeah, I know I already said this one. I feel dumb putting it here but I think I like this better than St:TNG. It just seems like it will go on to be the next biggest thing in sci-fi. It was renewed for its 9th season. No other sci-fi show ahs done this except for X-files, as far as I know.

Worst Ever Sci-Fi TV Series: Firefly
Whatever said last year.

Cartoons

Best Cartoon: Justice League Unlimited
How could I not put this under here? This show has improved on itself so much that it has become the only thing I watch now. They had running subplots and major events throughout the season. I have downloaded all the episodes that I could. The penultimate episode was the best cartoon episode I have ever seen in my life. The fact that it is a comic book cartoon doesn't taint my decision, it is still a great cartoon.

Worst Cartoon: .hack//SIGN
I usually give cartoons 3 episodes or more to convince me to keep watching them. This show lost on the first episode. I didn't care about the lead character or what the world was about. There was nothing interesting abuot the show at all. I dropped it without hesitation.

Best Ever Cartoon: Justice League Unlimited
How could I not put this here? I will be watching re-runs of this forever!

Worst Ever Cartoon: .hack//SIGN
I have never despised a show more than this one. I have never dropped a show this fast either.

Reality Shows

Best Reality Show: Survivor
I hate reality shows, but I remember watching this one. I don't remember anything about it but I remember watching it.

Worst Reality Show: Beauty and The Geek
Why? WHYWHYWHYWHY?!?! This show pissed me off for the few seconds I gave it. I couldn't stand to watch any more. It is either so blatantly fake or the contestants were incredibly dull and ditzy. The one "geek" was playing it up as a geek so bad it made me sick. The girls were super hot but really dumb and superficial. Didn't they already do this concept already too? God I have reality tv!

Best Ever Reality Show: Cops
This one was a tough call since even Cops has been slipping. I don't enjoy it like I used to.

Worst Ever Reality Show: Trading Spouses
OH MY GOD!! I hate this show. The producers intentionally put conflicting personalities togther to see the pain. I bet they originally thought that they could have a nice message, somehting like "we can all get along despite our differences". That's not what they got. They got a hippy's wife telling the wife of a soldier that the war is stupid. The go balastic on each other and the public eats it up. Makes me sick. I can't watch tv anymore.

Honourable Mention: Doctor Who
I can't stand tv anymore. I don't watch anything any more. I tape everything throughout the week and then watch it on the weekends. I watch a few things but nothing I would care if I missed. The only things I care about are JLU and Doctor Who. I make sure to watch them when they are on. After what happened to Star Trek this year I was about to give up hope for Sci-fi (except SG1, but I download that). Then Dr. Who came on and I was restored. I hope this stay on for a while. Something has to fill the gap left by Star Trek.
