This was one of my favourite battles. We never really got to see either of these systems in action. It took some thinking as
to what they have to fight with. The Matrix was famous for Neo and the Agents doing wicked things but none of that matters here since this has to take place in the real world.
So it would fight using those sentinels. It has an unlimited power source (human beings) but it has to maintain the crops and focus on maintaining the Matrix world to
control the humans. Skynet is the satellite AI that controls the terminators (both T-180's and T-1000's) and the hunter-killers. It has a time machine, but time travel in my battles is limited to the time that I start
the battle so Skynet will be allowed time travel if they get to it. It may still have some nukes leftover but probably not since I am assuming that if they did the would use them on the humans.
So its the strategic minds of the Matrix vs Skynet's planning fights between sentinels and terminators. This battle is unique in that it is almost a universe battle but I am leaving out the humans. I did this battle on an Earth that
is split down the center, one side is Matrix Earth with its cloud cover and all, and the other side is Terminator Earth with the charred land and skulls.
The sentinels can cut through the terminators with their lasers and the terminators can do a lot of damage with those pulse riffles. The hunter-killers
can also do a lot of damage to the sentinels as well. I am assuming that each side has equal numbers. The sentinels are agile enough to avoid the enemy so they have the upper
hand. So this battle is just back and forth, sort of. The thing that stuck in my mind about this battle was their histories.
Both of them took over the world and enslaved the humans or commited near genocide. The difference is that, as far as we know, the Matrix is still holding its resistnace back while Skynet had to result to
time travel. There is something inherently foretelling about that. I think that a terminator could be kidnapped by a sentinel and taken back to the Matrix so that it can be hooked up and its memory scanned.
According to the second movie, all terminators have all the knowledge of Skynet's history, operations, and limitations. The Matrix
would have everything it needs to defeat Skynet. Forget the time machine, the Matrix would learn about it and disable it. If humans with pulse riffles can defeat
Skynet's troops, an army of sentinels can defeat it.
Update after the 2 sequels: I was thinking about this battle the whole time I saw those scenes where the sentinels break through to Zion and when Neo was going towards the machine city. Those huge ass bombers
are enough to take out all that Skynet has at its disposal. Those drilling drones could come in handy but the main focus of this update are those bombers. Matrix definitely wins. I am so sure now that I would never have done this battle at all if I waited for the sequels.
