Spirits of venegence. Their origns are even similar, they both made deals with the devil. Spawn can only be killed by decapitation as far as I know. Ghost Rider can't be killed at all but he can be hurt by hellfire and
trapped in a pentagram. Spawn wouldn't know this so he will have to try something else. Spawn's chains and guns won't hurt Ghost Rider but
tht energy he fires would since it is connected to Hell and I am assuming it will have the same affect as hellfire on Ghost Rider. Ghost Rider's chains probably wouldn't hurt Spawn
either, but his other ability would win him the battle. Ghost Rider has a his penance stare which makes an evil soul feel a thousand times the pain of its victims. Al Simmons was a mercenary when he was alive and killed many people. Regardless of who they were or
what they did it was still murder and so he would feel all their pain and death a thousand times over. This amount of pain would knock him out. This attack worked well against Galactus so I'm sure it would work against a hellspawn.
