Violence is no longer a taboo topic.

is when one partner tries to maintain power and control over their partner
through abuse. The abuse can be
physical and/or emotional abuse.
Most of the victims of dating violence are teens who are most at
risk for serious injury.

1 in 10 High School Students experience
physical violence in dating relationships. (Gamache,1991) §
About 1 in 3 High School Students have
been or will be involved in an abusive relationship. §
1 in 5 of dating couples report some
type of violence in their relationship. §
40% of teenagers 14 to 17 say they know
someone their age3 who has been hit or beaten by their boyfriend. §
Women ages
16 to 24 experience the highest per capita rates of intimate violence --
