The Boy Who Would Be Prime - Notes
Setting - Anne McCaffrey's world of Talents
The story is set Anne McCaffrey's world of Talents, which is described in the "The Tower and the Hive" series. This story, however, is set only during the first book of the series, "The Rowan". During this stage of Talent evolution, there were only about 5 functioning Primes in the galaxy, making them an extremely rare and valued commodity.
Two particular sections of the book are drawn from heavily. The first is the opening of the 'Callisto' chapter (which was originally a short story called
"Lady in the Tower"). The first sentance is the famous, "When the Rowan came storming into Callisto station that morning, its personnel mentally and literally ducked." The second section is the episode in which the Rowan helps host a school for Talented teenagers. These two timeframes are pretty much blurred together.
Cast - Anime characters abound!

The offworld cast is taken almost completely from "The Rowan": Reidinger and the other Primes, Gollee Gren, etc. The local cast, that is, Altair's Station personnel and the kids on the training course, are taken from various anime series. I have tried to match up their powers with particular types of Talents, but in some cases they needed a little modification.
The two exceptions are McDohl and Emeralda, who are characters that played a part in the original roleplay on the muck. I am using their personalities as they were played, rather than whatever they may have been in the games they were originally from (which I have not played). Their Talents are entirely fabricated.
