My Martial Arts Page

I have been interested in martial arts & Eastern religions for as long as I can remember. My focus has been on kung-fu, taekwondo, and ninjitsu. I have not had the pleasure of formal training much beyond the blue belt level in taekwondo but I have been reading extensively about kung fu and ninjitsu since I was about 12 years old.

I would like more than anything to start formal training again in one of these arts, but being in the middle of a gender transition has made this virtually impossible for the time being. However, it is definitely something to work towards. In the meantime, I hope to continue to study them and to provide further information on this page about them.

Below are some links to get you started:

A Book of Five Rings
This book was written by Myamoto Musashi and is essential in the history of ninjitsu & the samauri. It is translated here by Victor Harris.

The Art of War by Sun Tzu
This book is another classic in the history of martial arts. This site has the text in original Chinese characters with English translations.

Stephen K. Hayes
Stephen K. Hayes is probably the foremost American authority on ninjitsu, having studied it for over 30 years and has attained the level of 10th degree black belt.
