| You can teach me something new,  And Ill always remember You can challenge my thinking,  And Ill thank you for it, You can try to lead me,  But I wont always follow, You can lie to my face,   But I dont have to believe, You can try to convince me,   But Im the one who has to change my mind, You can judge me by the color of my skin,   But youll never see my soul, You can judge me by my social status,   But youll never know my past, You can poke fun of my heritage,   But Ill still be proud of it, You can stereotype my appearance,   But you cant see me for who I really am, You can call me on my weaknesses,   But you cant see my strengths, You can say that Im different,   But Ill say Im unique, You can question my motives,   But I have my goals, You can say that Im a loner,   But Ill say that I like solitude, You can say that Im secretive,   But Ill tell you to bury the past, You can call me quiet,   But I like to observe, You can call me loud,   But I like to take part, You can say that Im cheesy,   But I like to have fun, You can say that Im strange,   But I keep things interesting, You can say that Im a trouble maker,   But Ill say that I like to challenge your mind, You can say that Im blunt,   But Ill say that Im honest, You can say that Im difficult,   But I wont agree, You can say that Im sassy,   But Ill say that I speak my mind, You can say tell me Im stubborn,   But I just know what I want, You can call me a prude,   But Ill tell you that I have self respect, You can say that Im old fashioned,   But Ill say that Im conservative, You can call me a rebel,   But Ill say Im liberal, You can say Ive gone wild,   But Ill say that Im living my life, You can call me a sinner,   But my God still loves me, You can criticize my character,   But Im not the one judging, You can call me names,   But I will just turn my back, You can talk about me behind my back,   But I can hear, so I dont care, You can start a rumor about me,   But I know theres no honesty in it, You can attempt to damage my ego,   But you can never break my spirit, You can attempt to change me,   But I know who I am. |
