Spiteful Bitter Words

By: K.C.

Hateful words hit her ears,
And whiplashed through her mind
Pushing her to the verge of tears,
But she caught them just in time,

Her nerves rattles beneath her skin,
Disobeying her commanding will,
She held her arms to keep them pinned,
But they shook within her still

She took each word blow by blow,
And bit against her tongue
Each spiteful word cut her low,
Making her feel as if she'd been stung,

Closing her eyes, she wondered,
How could anyone say just things,
To make the blood boil and scream
Without thinking of the costs they bring?

Slowly she managed to stagger away,
To her own private abode,
Trying to forget the words and their sway
To ignore what she'd been told

Finally she let go of the bitter speach,
That had once torn into her heart,
It was only a small recovery,
But at least it was a start.
