Celtic Fling, the well known Limerick Band consists of Daithi O'Connell on Fiddle & Vocals, Yvonne MacMahon on Accoustic Guitar & Vocals and Steven MacNamara on Lead Accoustic Guitar and Vocals.  This incredibly gifted celtic rock / pop band is considered to be one of the foremost of it's genre.  All members of the band are originally from Limerick City in Ireland, a city noted for it's musical ability.

Celtic Fling has  travelled Europe, Scandinavia and the United States and Canada extensively, entertaining audiences far and wide.  Daithi & Yvonne have appeared on many television programmes in Ireland, Belgium and the United States and Canada performing both traditional and popular music.  Steven joined the duo in 2002 when he returned from the UK having spent over ten years performing throughout Scotland and England.

Celtic Fling perform traditional music (with a twist!), pop, rock & roll, blues & blue grass.  They are very accomplished musicians and enjoy performing to a wide variety of audiences.

Over the summer season they are often to be found enjoying an unofficial "Session" in Kilkee, Co. Clare where they also play in several different venues.

Celtic Fling performed in Sheffield, England on March 17th, 18th & 19th in Fargate at the St Patrick's Day Festival 2006 where they received much acclaim for their energetic performance to an audience of over 2000!  2009 will be even bigger and better with performances from the band taking place on March 14th, 15th and 16th and 17th in Fargate!

Celtic Fling has also appeared as session musicians with the group "The Whoredogs" in London (June 2006, Social Club) and played the Tapestry Festival in Wales on July 1st 2006. 2010 sees the band travelling to Canada to perform in Toronto, Edmonton and Ottawa, with further venues to be confirmed.

Daithi O'Connell, Violin (Fiddle), Vocals, Mandolin, Viola

Daithi (David) O'Connell has been playing music since he could first hold a fiddle.  A student from the age of six at the Limerick Municipal School of Music, Daithi progressed to become a teacher of Violin and a mentor to hundreds of students through the years.   Daithi was a member of the famous Celtic Fusion and travelled throughout Europe with the band for over five years.  He has worked on many albums as a session musician, most notably with Noel McLoughlin. 

Daithi is currently the principal of the Limerick School of Music and is Conductor of the Limerick School of Music Orchestra.
Yvonne MacMahon, Vocals, Guitar

Yvonne comes fom a very varied background.  Having been involved in the Irish Music and Dance scene until the age of 23 (a world champion Irish Dance medallist) she then travelled extensively throughout Europe.  On returning Yvonne joined with several rock bands and was a founding member of the band SoupFiction with sister Fiona which won the Showcase '93 competition and has supported such acts as Del Amitri, Mary Coughlan, Mick Hanly and Boyzone!!!!.  She and Daithi joined forces in 1997 and began to tour throughout Ireland and Europe.  In 1998 they took their show to Canada and The United States where they achieved great success.


Yvonne is an accomplished classical singer having completed her exams last year.

Steven MacNamara, Vocals, Lead Accoustic Guitar

Steven has been in the music business for over twenty years performing with bands throughout Ireland, England and Scotland.  In his early days he was a member of "Junior and the Spook" a well known folk/rock/pop duo who travelled throughout Ireland.  Steven has spent over ten years in the UK where he performed with various groups and recorded several albums.  His strong vocals and guitar ability lend themselves to many diverse styles of music.

Steven plays lead accoustic guitar with Celtic Fling.
