Mirrormere
......A poem for our beloved Gimli.
On the eastern side of Moria,
glimmering in the evenings light,
lies Mirrormere, the Dwarven-lake,
in Dwarven hearts a well-loved site.

As still as glass, its serene surface,
gathers up dusks fading glance,
and in its cold and silent, clear depths
transforms it to auroral rays.

As peaceful darkness falls upon it,
ebony do its depths become
and in its black, clear crystal mirror,
twinkling stars are caught and held.

Like an emblem of old; of Luthien,
or Fanor, perhaps, it lies,
dark, shadowy black with pearly white
a shield with star and jet adorned.

And when morning finally starts to dawn,
and slowly, snowy stars depart,
glimmering in the new, soft light,
the lake lies tranquil in its glade.

On the eastern side of Moria,
glimmering in the mornings light,
lies Mirrormere, the Dwarven lake,
in Dwarven hearts a well-loved site.
