Wait

He watched her. Something was nagging on her mind. She didn't even look to be paying attention to the movie. He looked down over her shoulder at the movement of her fingers. He smiled a little at the silver band that glinted from the small lamp in the opposite corner of the room, as she fiddled with it. She twisted it around and around on her finger in a nervous gesture.

They were cuddled on the couch, him behind her, her leaning against him. From behind, he reached his hand down and rested it on her two moving ones, stopping her movements. He kissed the curve of her neck and brought her ringed hand up, fingers linked and watched her head turn to look into dark chocolate eyes. He grinned and brought her hand closer, placed his lips on the ring of her ring finger, his eyes locking on hers.

He watched them flutter and her gentle smile form. The frown lines in her forehead disapeared.

He pulled her hand back enough so he could examine the ring himself, twisting it around so he could read the words carved on the outside; True Love Waits. A symbol of herself, waiting til that one day to legally become a wife and give herself to him. He pressed his lips again to her finger and looked up into her smiling face.

"I love you." He kissed her lips gently.

He would wait for her.
