Aarika typed quickly, cursed when she made a typo and hit the delete button and edited. She'd been working on her essay for over three hours and still didn't like how it flowed. It made sense while she wrote it but then she re-read it with a different perspective and it was scrambled. She sighed and pressed her fingers to her temples to get rid of the dull pain slowly spreading into a migrane. She sighed then and tugged at her hair to let the long brown locks release the tight hold it had her on scalp. The pain relieved a little bit but she then felt the tension in her neck spread over her shoulders. She was tired, too busy to feel hungry, and disapointed that she couldn't have spent the evening with Joel. Aarika frowned again, growled when that brought on more of a sharp pain to her temples. She wanted it done.
She went back to typing, paused when she realized some music might help some. She turned to get a cd from her shelf and was shocked to see her room was pitch black behind her. She'd been at the computer so long she didn't even realize it had turned dark outside. Aarika walked over to the bed-side table to switch on the small lamp and grabbed her cd case. She settled back in her seat at the computer and turned the sound of Maroon5 up in her speakers. Her parents were out of town so she didn't keep it at the lower volume like always.
She re-read a small section of the forth bodied paragraph but quickly jerked her head behind her when she heard a knock on the wall. Her eyes wandered around the room and over to the window where sprinkles of rain were splattered on the window.
She turned back, began typing. She'd been typing for not even five minutes when she heard her window suddenly shove open. She whirled around, the scream gurgling up her throat but it was curse that came out when she saw who was jumping through.
"Surprise." Joel smiled and chuckled at her still grumpy expression.
"Arg, can't you use the door for once?"
"The door isn't as romantic as climbing up the side of the house and through the window." He began walking towards her, a grin still on his lips.
"Yeah, well it sure rates high on the horror movie thoughts I had running through my head when I heard my window open." She turned and sat back at the computer, her chin resting on her hand.
He watched her from behind, saw her press her fingers to the sides of her face and frowned. She looked too tired and a little on edge.
"What do you want anyway?" She went to type again but looked down to see a single daisy being held infront of the screen. She sighed and through the fatigue and headache, managed a smile and a fidget when she felt butterflies swarm in her stomach. How she didnt notice him holding the daisy before, she didn't know. A simple gesture and she when all gooey. She turned in her chair, taking the stem and looked up at him. He smiled down at her and grabbed her hand to help her up.
"I knew you'd be busy and thought I'd help de-stress you a bit. Plus, the flower made you smile so it's a two in one play."
Aarika smiled and wrapped her arms around his torso. His came over her shoulders and she felt his lips press against her ear and she felt those butterflies swarmed up to flutter her heart. "Thank you." She pulled back a bit to look up at him and twirled the daisy in her fingers that were behind his back. He leaned forward and pressed his lips to hers gently.
"Anytime." He moved his hands to her cheeks and rubbed his thumbs gently at the circles under her eyes. "You need to rest." He layed his forehead against hers and wrapped his arms around her again. "You're too tired to do this."
Aarika sighed. Her head was resting on his shoulder and she felt her eyes droop closed, then blink open. Her body was relaxed against his and she felt her legs give.
"Whoa there. Let's get you in bed." Her hoisted her up into his arms, and turned to walked towards the bed on the other side of the room. He felt her face nuzzled in the crook of his neck and smiled. He approached the bed and gently layed her down. He tugged the sheets out from under her then pulled them up to cover her. His eyes wandered over her in the cute pj pants and white wife beater, on up to her eyes that were fluttered closed. He turned and walked towards the computer, saving her essay and shutting it down.
"Don't go." She turned over and watched him wait for the computer. She grinned softly and layed her head down on the pillow.
Joel was leaned over the desk, waiting for it to save the settings before turning off when he looked over towards her. He grinned and switched off the computer. He walked over to the bed, opened the covers and slipped inside beside her. She immediately cuddled against him and he smiled when he knew she would nuzzle her face back against his neck. She loved to breath in his scent and know he was close.
He turned off the lamp and moved his arm over her shoulder to work his fingers against her neck, loosening the bunched muscles. When he felt her relax and her breathing even he kissed the top of her head and closed his eyes.
