An Empty Store

Dyanna shifted through the rows of cd's and adusted the stack she held against her side. She grabbed five at a time and placed the cd's in behind the tab that name the artist. Nobody seemed to be coming in today, which made her day much easier. She heard the tone that indicated the door being opened and turned to see a tall man facing the counter.

"I'll be right with you." She called out as she placed the last ten cd's behind the tabs.

Dyanna walked to and behind the counter, not bothering to glance up as she quickly grabbed the box the cd's were in and turned to throw it in the back room.

She turned and finally looked at the person. Amusement lit her eyes. And the descriptive word 'beautiful', ran through her mind. "Can I help you?"

Justin looked down at the counter as his hand rested there and then up to the woman's eyes. They sparkled. And looked deep into his. "Um..yes. I need to get out of here pretty quickly and so I was just wondering if you could point out where the new R Kelly cd is. That way I don't have to search around for it." He reasoned, his hand that was on the counter lifting with the shrug of his shoulder. He watched her intently as she looked over across the room.

"It should be over in that corner over there somehwere. Second row I believe."

Justin smiled and slapped his hand ont he counter as he pushed up from leaning on it. "Great, thanks."

Dyanna watched as he strutted a walk to the place she pointed to and smiled. She went on with her business, trying to stop the wondering thoughts of this man, that were lingering in her mind.

Curious as to why the image of the woman's eyes seemed to appear in his mind as his finger's pushed aside cd's that didn't interest him, and the way his gut seemed to twist, he decided to start a little conversation.

"You're really slow today. No one's here." He started, picking up a cd and glancing up at the woman.

"Yeah, it's strange. there's always someone here."

"Well, I'm here."

Dyanna smiled, looked down and then met his eyes from across the room as she nodded. "Yes,I guess that's true." She paused. "You do have osmeone here to protect you right? Your body guard or whatnot?"

Justin glanced up again, his eyebrows raising. It was the first time she said something that indicated she acknowledged who he was. "Outside."

"Ah." She nodded and glanced back down to continue her pricing tags.

"Why?"

"Oh...no reason."

"No, really?"

Dyanna laughed. "I just wanted to make sure in case I turn into one of those fans of yours and jump you." Her sarcasm licked his throat in a chuckle.

Justin raised his eyebrows and his lips moved downward. "Not a fan?"

"I don't like to be a fan. But I'll say I like your music and considering we've met, I'll say you seem to be a very unique and all around good person."

Justin smiled and looked to the cds. "I'd say your assumption is correct but then I'd be justifying the opinions people have of me having an ego the size of who know's what."

"Well, you're entitled."

Dyanna grinned. "I'd tell you, but then again you are a total stranger to me so I can't be too upfront."

Loving the way she was treating him as if he was a random person coming inside a cd store, he laughed.

And that simple sound flowed through her. She grabbed the cd from his hand ran it over the laser. "Weren't you looking to be in and out of here quickly?" She asked as she pressed a button on the keyboard and looked to him as she named the price.

"Yeah, well. It's not everyday I meet someone who makes me feel giddy and normal."

She paused. "I don't see you as a person everyone know's. You're a person coming in to get a cd from a store I work at." She stated, taking his cash and ringing it up.

"That's nice to know. Does that mean I can ask you to coffee?"

Dyanna grinned and bagged the cd and receit, handed it to him. "Afraid not."

"Reason?"

"Nope"

"No reason? There's always a reason."

"Are you sure about that?"

Justin tilted his head as he looked her in the eyes and grinned knowingly. "I could learn things from you. That's reason for asking you to coffee."

"Maybe."

"So, how am I supposed to get you to a cafe with me? I already asked." He shrugged, as he stated the obvious.

"Mmhmm."

"So?"

"So, actions speak louder than words" She paused. "Are you clever enough?"

Justin continued to look in her eyes with question and intrigue. A challenge he couldn't understand. Just what he was looking for.

Without taking her eyes from his, she called to the back room, "Blair, I'm off for lunch. Be back in a half!" She grabbed her coat and bag and walked around the counter.

"Shall we?" She said, walking by him and to the door. She ignored the big, burrly man who followed her and Justin around the corner and down the sidewalk.

"Hey." Justin walked a little faster and fell into step with her. "Are you for real?"

Dyanna turned to look at his face. "Shouldn't I be asking you that?"

Another smile. His cheeks were beginning to cramp. But his lips turned down straight as he saw a lens reflected in the sun and the shutter clicked.

"You're not affended of publicity or photos in the paper are you?"

"It's all opinions of other people and it's people doing their job. It doesn't exist to me."

"Good point." His words slow with ponder. "So, actions speak louder than words? Can you tell me then what this action would be called in words?" He said, grasping her hand linking their fingers, holding their hands up to show.

"No words. Emotion." She said, enjoying the feel of tingles between their palms, the rollercoaster stomach feeling.

"Hmm..what emoion?" He questioned, lowering their hands to swing beside them as they walked.

"Caring of friendship, love of a lover, comfort of a companion."

"Very interesting. What about the action of going to coffee and holding hands with someone you met fifteen minutes ago?"

Dyanna smiled and turned to enter Starbucks. "I, call that a date."

Justin stopped and watched her walk inside.

Lonnie layed a hand on his shoulder. "That's not a 'britney'." He joked.

"Damn right it isn't." He laughed as he followed in after her.

So, if you won't tell me your age, how about your name?"

Dyanna turned her head and looked him in the eyes smiling. But said nothing.
