The Adoption Legacy is Well-Written lesson on the Power of Love The Adoption Legacy centers on a young woman's search for her past. Annie begins finding clues to her history when she moves to London with her adoptive family. In her exploration of the manor, she finds a diary that belonged to one of her ancestors. This leads her to another more important book, her Family Bible and her mother's diary. The characters were this book's strongest aspect. Their thoughts and feelings were openly displayed and made the story come alive. The relationships among them were strong and easy to identify with. The plot was laid out and followed well. There were a few places that seemed to stray from the main idea, but they were explained later in the story. The conflict in this story is interesting. Most of it comes from what the main character reads in the diaries she finds. Along with that, Annie herself is in conflict. She fights her feelings of being completely different from those she calls her family and of wanting only to fit in. The Adoption Legacy is an excellent mix of sorrow, hope and excitement. It's a very emotional story dealing with the horrors of prejudice and the resolution that comes with love. ![]()
The Haunted Cove is a story about a teenaged girl in a troubled family. They move into a friend's house for six months and slowly grow closer. Katie, the young girl, makes friends with a girl her age she meets on the beach. She soon discovers that her newfound friend is a spirit who has been haunting the cove for nearly two hundred years. The story is a great example of love, loss and friendship. The characters are representative of people you would pass on the street. They are well developed and easy to understand. You can feel their fears and hopes throughout the story. The plot was easily followed and the author didn't stray. The scenery wasn't overly described, but she gave you enough to let you see it. I feel that some of the characters could have been further described, but this didn't take away from the overall effect of the story. It was well-worded, and although there are places where the author started a new chapter in the midst of a conversation, it adds a little to the suspense. The Haunted Cove is a wonderful book. It grabs you and doesn't let go. If you like happy endings, this is a book for you. ![]() The contents of this site (including all excerpt pages contained herein) are copyright protected.
