The raindrops splatter onto his cheeks, merging into little rivers that pool at the tip of his chin. He's breathless – wide-eyed – oblivious to the sheets of water that are pounding onto him.

Jack recognizes that face. He's seen it many times before – at the SGC, off-world, and now on the porch to his house. It's the type of face that literally could launch a thousand ships, or some other cliché. Daniel had discovered something great – something that could change things forever.

"I understand it, now," he says, the tremor in his voice nearly betraying the excitement shining in his eyes.

Jack understands it, too. Daniel's glasses start to fog.

Quietly, Jack reaches outward and slips them off his face. He watches as a stray raindrop trickles down Daniel's nose and splashes onto his lower lip. Fascinated, Jack notices the raindrop quiver, hovering on the threshold. He touches Daniel's cheek and lightly brushes his finger over the moist lip, chasing away the droplet with the pad of his thumb. Daniel sighs as Jack's fingers move to graze his jaw.

Jack knows that soon Daniel will open the flood gates and all hell will break lose. But Jack didn't need his words. Jack could live in the moment.

Keeping his hand on Daniel's cheek, Jack offers him refuge by raising his eyebrows and speaking in a soft but firm voice. "Show me."
