title: Music and Graphics

This web page is about my 2 favorite things - classical music, in particular the cello, and graphics. My music links can be found in the top frame, and my graphics links are located below.

MY BACKGROUND

I began my musical journey when, as a 2 year old (still in diapers), I climbed up on the piano bench next to my grandmother and watched her hands as I listened to her play a song. When she was finished, I played the melody for her. Needless to say, after the shock wore off, she became my first teacher. Even though she couldn't read music, she played piano and organ in the silent movies.

My piano skills grew and I played in many local recitals and concerts, but when I was 14 I was sent to Marywood Seminary, a girls' private school which was heavily oriented towards music. It was here that, because of one of my classmates, Ann, I started my cello studies. Ann began the cello in September of our freshman year, but I didn't start until January, when she dared me to take it. So I did, fell in love with it, and within three months I was out-playing the other cellists in the school. From then on, the piano took a back seat to the cello. I went on to study music education and performance at the bachelors and masters level.

All my life I have also loved to draw, but I never had that much time for it once I was in high school. A few years ago I started to learn to create webpages but I wasn't all that happy with the graphics that were available, so I decided to make my own. This wasn't as easy as I thought it would be, but I learned the basics in Photoshop and then went on to Paint Shop Pro, as well as a few others.
