Our Ron is awake now and
singing
Not asleep on Port Lincoln's foreshore
He was the one who created
Stinky Creek's New great furore

I've spoken with Anne Who's the Mistress
of Stinky Creek Folk Festival
A Happy delightful Wonder Woman
Whose food was a wonderful brew.

Her daughter makes cake quite
delicious
And Pudding to test your taste buds
Their medical skills are a wonder
Cures constipation no fuss

In the hall the toes are a tappin
To tin whistles, the drum and guitars
A hurdy gurdy's merrily buzzing
And there's beer and wine at the bars

But alas, I have several misgivings
A word on Anne's paper said
Clubbing
I've remembered me tent pegs and matches
I thought the bloomin word was cubbing.

Chorus:

The Boston Bay Folk are all Happy
Others have come many miles
To enjoy all the Music and Workshops
And Ryebucks elegant style
The Challenge... Stinky Creek Folk Festival by Thalia Jemwell May2004

Verse 1
The Ryebuck Sheilas came to town
and quickly found their way around
The Bodrun drum began to hum
They all joined in behind
The Tin Whistle, the Mandolin
Autoharp and Guitar
The elegant Fiddle played the last bar
We all sat in wonder

Chorus

Stinky Creek Folk Festival
People travelled for miles
Join in the throng
Beer wine food and song
Stinky Creek Folk Festival
Boston Bay

Verse2
The dance went on, we sang every song
Woman up the back said 'play something happy'
The accordion played a delightful jig
The all joined in behind
'Oh Brother" Dulcimer
Auto Harp and Guitar
Workshops all over, cake had all gone
We all sat in wonder
The Challenge by Kath Kennedy

I've never written a poem before
Let alone recited
Inspired by song and dance at Stinky Creek
I'm glad I was invited

Full of wonder at the workshops
I found drums, guitar and tinwhistle delightful
Marvelled at Boston Bay
The miles travelled were insightful

I've had my fill of been and wine before
But the food here has been awesome
The cake at lunch on Saturday
Was OH SO very MORESOME

Elegant dancing on Saturday night
Everyone was clubbing
SO HERES TO HAPPY
CELLAR FOLK
Your festival was Stunning

Fair Stinky Creek, an elegant
wonder
Upon the shore of  delightful Boston Bay
Where Folk happy with much beer and wine
dance and trip and fall, all asunder.

For miles away, they came to stay
for food; on guitar cake they will dine
After Sheila's wondrous workshops
a red eyed reveller, with raucous song
wi' shaky hand, imbibes the slops
as with tin whistle, he is clubbing his drums, the nong

Down at Stinky Creek near Boston Bay
A delightful festival they say
Folk music sooths the heart
Your at home right from the start

You've baked a cake and packed som food
Playing music sets the mood
Tin whistles, guitars, drums are fine
Music and fun is yours and mine

Making music is good for the soul
Fills the spirit and makes it whole
Se let your smile travel to your feet
Take a breath down so very deep
Singing out loud and having fun
Down at Stinky Creek

Elegant folk from miles around
together making wonderful sound
beer or wine and food to eat
Get up and dance or just tap your feet

Workshops song an odd instrument
The wonder of learning and home your sent
To share your music while your clubbing
Or down the local while your pubbing

Making music is good for the soul
Fills the spirit and makes it whole
So let your smile travel to your feet
Take a breath down so very deep
Singing out loud and having fun
Down at Stinky Creek
Challenge by Mike Eley (on paper half the size)

To Stinky Creek near Boston Bay
I wandered happy elegant miles
To where delightful Folk were
clubbing
with ear-wide cheerful smiles

Workshops for song and dance there were
Guitars, Tin Whistles, Drums
With beer and wine and food and cake
We sucked grease off our thumbs

I've now used up all requisite words
There's nothing left to say
Except I'll see You all again
In 12 months on this day

WE'VE GOT A FESTIVAL OUT THIS WAY,
AT STINKY CREEK ON BOSTON BAY
GUITAR AND SONG ARE THE ORDER OF THE DAY

WORKSHOPS AND TIN WHISTLES WILL MAKE THE PEOPLE PRANCE
AS THEY TRIP THE LIGHT FANTASTIC, TO A TRUE BLUE AUSSIE DANCE

LOTS OF FOLK ARE CLUBBING, THEY'VE COME FROM MILES AROUND
THERE'S BEER AND WINE AND LOTS OF FOOD, ON THE
TABLES TO BE FOUND
I'D BE HAPPY IF WE JUST HAD CAKE, TO NOURISH US THROUGHOUT

BUT PLEASE NO FOLKY VERSION OF THE SONG CALLED TWIST AND SHOUT
ALTHOUGH THERE'S MANY PEOPLE, COMING THROUGH THE DOOR
IT WOULD BE DELIGHTFUL, IF WE COULD HAVE LOTS MORE

ITS A WONDER THAT MORE PEOPLE, DONT WISH TO BEAT THEIR DRUM
THE ELEGANCE OF 'RON THE POM' SHOULD MAKE THEM WANT TO COME
Challenge by Andrew Slack
