| Saga was one of the most powerful and most loyal Saints of Athena, but he was also split into his two personalities. One of which was Ares who reincarnated in him. He killed the first patriarch (or pope) of the Sanctuary and replaced him, but wore a mask so no one would notice. Aioros though found out and rescued Athena when Saga tried to kill her as an infant. Aioros escaped with her, but Saga took over the Sanctuary and claimed he did things in Athena's name. He was the last foe whom the Bronze Saints faced in the battle of the twelve houses. Before that he used his special powers to control his Golden armor, the Gold Armor of Gemini to attack all the Bronze Saints as they tried to get through the house of Gemini. Shiryu, Seiya and Shun made it through, but Hyoga is sent to another dimension and when he escapes, he reaches the house of Libra. Saga himself is a VERY strong fighter and not even all 5 Bronze Saints combined (including Ikki) could take him down. He however killed himself with Athena's Scepter as his good side seized control of him for a little while. In the long run, Saga trully does save Athena from himself. After his death, durring the war on Asgard, he encourages Seiya to go on and save Athena after Seiya gives up on defeating Hilda. |
