| West Ayenee West Ayenee is largely mountains, plateau, and grassland. It consists of several regions- Darrow, Kaiber Plains, Karhai, and the Giant Forest. Much of West Ayenee, having the connecting road to technologically advanced Eden, is very technologically advanced itself, while many regions, much like the Tokugawa dynasty of early Japan, choose to remain in the past and avoid change. Celine controls much of this land with a relatively relaxed fist- that is, relative to Varsinax�s iron grip from a while ago. The people here are tired of struggling to survive. They are angry and wish for their fair share of the pie. Celine plans to give it to them. West Ayenee is largely landlocked, but it has a small inlet to the Northwest that borders on the Frozen North- that is, the lands way, WAY north of WaaDor�s- the land maintained by Celine�s longtime rival Kirai. They recently signed an agreement that allows the Republic to drill for oil in exchange for a large chunk of the profits and employment for the Samebito that live there. West Ayenee is populated largely by humans, but there are occasional strangers. The people, as stated, are angry at being mistreated all these years and willing to fight for what is rightfully theirs. What that is is up to them- they ask and Celine makes her best attempts to give it to them- she knows she�s only in power because her �revolution� was very lucky in succeeding. It�s this change, the government actually serving the people, that makes for a great stability in the region. Celine is vicious about her borders with any non-allies. West Ayenee�s income and production is largely from mineral and oil refineries, agriculture, and heavy manufacturing. West Ayenee ships its exports largely through a vastly improved highway system due to Celine�s mandate that horse-based transporation gradually be phased out. There is also a large natural deposit of uranium under the Kaiber Plains, and mining operations there have been heavily disrupted by the Masks, a local mafia-type organization whose members wield deadly knives and wear oversized, frightening masks, who apparently dislike the destruction of the local environment, even though the mines barely occupy four-tenths of one percent of the land in Kaiber. Darrow is by far the largest region, but much of it is mountains and other land unsuitable for settling. The vast mountain range found there extends even into North Ayenee and largely restricts any highways or railroads or other modes of transportation into this country. Castle Espera is located in Darrow, though it is marked on all maps as a fertilizer plant, and most of the country�s power lines and mines run through these mountains. To the west of Darrow lies the Giant Forest, cut almost in half by the only major highway into Eden, built three months ago by the Ministry of Services. Only recently have businesses and gas stations begun to spring up on the highway. West Ayenee uses the gold piece as standard currency, and Celine is making her best efforts to revalue it. Ironically, at one time a stamped and stapled gold piece was worth less than twenty-five percent of the same weight of copper! This is largely due to heavy counterfeiting and money conjuration done by many people over a period of many years, and was successful only in vastly devaluing the gold piece. Celine and the Ministry of Economy are making their best efforts to rebuild the crippled currency, and in the meantime they also deal in American dollars with foreign nations. |
