| The Republic�s Administration The Republic is run by and large by its Dictator-for-life, as one would expect. However, it does have the foundations of a democracy in its workings, with a well-oiled parliament and several ministries of internal affairs, all composed of elected individuals. There are two Houses in the Republic government- the House of Internal Affairs and the House of External Affairs. Both are headed up by Celine, but her main control is over the latter. It contains the Ministry of War, the Ministry of Diplomacy, and the Ministry of Propaganda. The House of External Affairs The House of External Affairs takes care of, as expected, all affairs outside of the Republic�s infrastructure. War, diplomacy, propaganda, and everything in between, as it is. The House of External Affairs also has two law-enforcement agencies, the RIC (Republican Investigatory Commission) and the secret police Celine employs to remove threats to her power within or outside her Republic known only as the �Chameleon Police� because no one has ever found out who these people are. The Ministry of War The Ministry of War does all the war-related stuff. The Minister, as expected, commands the armies of the Republic under Celine and is tasked with most of the paperwork duties. The current Minister of War is Sethontori Veldruk. She�s been in that position since the Republic was founded. The Ministry of Diplomacy The Ministry of Diplomacy is tasked with ending wars, buying land and other stuff from other countries, and generally hobnobbing with another nation�s rulers and dealing with its government. The Minister of Diplomacy is the country�s �mascot�, basically putting on a good face for other countries. Currently there is no Minister of Diplomacy, as the former one, King, � (that�s actually his name), left the position. Celine has taken up the duty once again of representing her Republic in foreign affairs. Any applications for the position are welcome. The Ministry of Propaganda The Ministry of Propaganda is tasked with speaking directly to the people, whether of this Republic or another country. If the army cannot fight a country, the Ministry of Propaganda will try to incite a rebellion against its government. It�s very good at this job- this is also how the Republic gains the undying loyalty of most nations it conquers. Most fighters for the Republic still see themselves as rebels against an oppressive government- and by and large, they are. There is an open slot for Minister of Propaganda. All the Ministers (except the Minister of Law) are appointed by Celine, and she has yet to find a suitable candidate. The House of Internal Affairs The House of Internal Affairs takes care of most things internal, summing up services, economics, and law. It�s mostly composed of elected officials. The Ministry of Economics The Ministry of Economics was originally the most pressured ministry, due to the fact that inflation had caused (and still does cause) the gold piece�s value to plummet to some six metric tons of 24-carat gold to one ship�s peanut. Originally Celine headed up the bureau- and her job was to shoot anyone suspected of counterfeiting money. Or at least shoot at them and yell and throw rocks along with generally most of the crowd around her- the Ministry of Propaganda had already done its job in saying that anyone who would counterfeit money is literally snatching food from the mouths of your children. It�s actually quite true, the Barley Famine of three years ago, in which barley farmers were repaid in last year�s rates for bushels of said crop and which resulted in them not even being able to buy a piece of paper to write a letter, much less food for their family, is quite enough evidence of that. Now, however, with a somewhat-renewed gold piece (it�s still worth a lot less than it once was), the Ministry of Economics also handles trade, taxes, property rights, banks, and most other money and commerce-related duties. The Ministry of Services The Ministry of Services is responsible for internal services, such as the police departments, the national guard, the postal service, department of transportation� generally every federal service found in most other countries. The Ministry of Services also pays for the largest humanitarian relief fund in Ayenee. The Ministry of Law Last, but certainly not least, the Ministry of Law is composed of entirely elected officials, headed up by a Minister of Law, the Republic�s equivalent of a Prime Minister to Celine�s royalty- except of course that Celine isn�t royalty, she appoints her successor, and she wields quite a bit more power than this Minister. The Ministry of Law is largely responsible for the legal system in place in the Republic, and is also responsible for amending the Constitution. A two-thirds majority is needed in almost all decisions, and the Minister of Law retains the power of a veto- as well as Celine herself. These officials have yet to use this power, however- as many of the new laws passed were proposed by Celine and her legal committee. It�s not a puppet government, it�s merely a legal administration.
