#2: SCARED GRANDMA FEARS TEEN JARGON
-Dr. Phil is here to help
Dear Dr Phil,

I am a 64 year old woman who is desperate to figure exactly what is wrong with me. Well, where to start..... I guess it began last fall when it was my birthday. What was meant to be a joyous occasion ended with me feeling empty and oh so old. I realized I had no idea what band my granddaughter was talking about, what a 'Skank' is, or what on earth these "Raves" the teens of this country seem so hooked on. I still want to understand, but no one seems willing to explain.
I thought I still 'up with the play' but it seems I  have grown old without realizing. Please Dr Phil, don't let me become one of those ladies in the tartan coat pushing home their shopping on there walking frame- I just want my grand-daughter to think I'm groovy.

Yours faithfully

A-once-groovy Grandma

The feelings that you are experiencing right now are perfectly normal and justified. It is often a scary prospect to see you family growing up around you, while you are slowly shrinking. I know it is hard, but you must come to accept that you granddaughter is merely in a period of self discovery and finding her spirit.
These people you cannot change, youd be a fool to think if you could. It has been tried before and it has resulted in the break up of families. D you want to live with that on your concience? But it doesnt mean you cant change. Its now in your hands.
You talk of being afraid of becoming one of those tartan clad ladies, well the choice is yours. Where will you shop in the future? Millers, or Glassons? Bobby Robertson, or Cheapskates?
I feel, Grandma, you have touched upon a matter that many readers of this site may be feeling insecure about. Therefore I have requested the younger one of the agents write an article of what it means to be young, as I must admit, no matter how you may view me, I am no spring chicken myself. I confess to also asking the question what is a skank?
So please Granny, read the article, the choice of which road you take is yours. You just need to decide which one itll be.

HINT: use a map.

We are all  thinking of you, God bless.
