| Shadow Minion There are those who devote themselves to the darkness. They lurk in the shadows serving the mysterious lords of the plane of shadow. Shadow minions gradually take on the abilities of a half shadow creature as shadow stuff slowly replaces their flesh. Most shadow minions are rogues, though bards, fighters, monks, and rangers are also common. Barbarians and druids are rarely drawn to the world of shadow and sorcerers and wizards usually take the shadow adept prestige class. Only clerics of gods associated with darkness or evil take this class. Shadow minions are not usually organized but enjoy each others company. Where there is one there are bound to be more. Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A shadow minion is proficient with all simple weapons and light armor. Low Light Vision (Ex): At 1st level the shadow minion gains low light vision if he doesnt have it already. Shadow Move (Su): A shadow minion is able to take advantage of his connection to the plane of shadow to increase his base move by 10 feet. Mirror Image (Sp): At 2nd level, the shadow minions powers grow and he is able to create shadowy duplicates of himself. This functions as mirror image as cast by a sorcerer of a level equal to the level of the prestige class. It can be used once per day. Sneak Attack (Ex): At 2nd level, any time a shadow minions target would be denied his Dexterity bonus to AC, the shadow minions sneak attack does extra damage. This extra damage is +1d6 at 2nd level and increases to +2d6 at 4th. Ranged attacks only count as sneak attack if within 30 feet. This stacks with a rogues sneak attack. Uncanny Dodge (Ex): At third level, a shadow minion gains the extraordinary ability to react to danger before his senses would normally allow him to be even aware of it. This allows him to retain his Dexterity bonus to AC (if any) regardless of being caught flat-footed or struck by an invisible attacker. (He still loses his Dex bonus to AC if immobilized.) If the shadow minion has another class that grants the uncanny dodge ability, add together all the class levels of the classes that grant the ability and determine the characters uncanny dodge ability on that basis. Lurk in Shadows (Ex): At 3rd level, the shadow minions familiarity with shadows grants him a +4 competence bonus to Hide checks. Darkvision (Ex): At 4th level, the shadow minion gains darkvision up to a distance of 60 feet. Shadow Creature (Su/Ex): At 5th level, the shadow minion becomes a shadow creature. This changes his type to monstrous humanoid and gives him the ability of shadow blend. In any conditions other than full daylight, the character can disappear into the shadows, giving him nine-tenths concealment. Artificial illumination, even a light or continual flame spell does not negate this ability. A daylight spell however will. |
