These creatures are only a threat to foolish adventurers. Not so the dire walrus, a giant creature that supplements its seafood diet with the surrounding wildlife (including people). Walruses are 9 to 12 feet long, and weigh up to 1700 pounds. Their hides are brown and wrinkly, covered in hair that disappears with age. They lack ears and have broad bristled muzzles. Their most distinctive feature is their tusks that can grow up to 3 feet long. They spend much of their time in large clumps, often upon icebergs. The dire walrus is the same as a normal walrus except it is bigger and more territorial. It grows about 25 feet long and weighs up to 7 tons. Its tusks may grow to 7 or 8 feet in length. Combat Walrus will usually flee a strong foe. If forced to fight they will stab with their tusks en masse. Dire walrus will often attack using the cover of ice. With their tusks and powerful muscles they can burst through ice a foot thick GMs Commentary: This was inspired by a nature documentary and a half remembered sci fi story involving a walrus the size of a bus. I think thats all that needs to be said. |
