| Potion Fruits The holy grail of alchemical and magical botany, potion fruits combine potion effects with the reproductive properties of fruits to create an endless supply of basic potions. The process of potion fruit creation is highly experimental, involving much time, money and personal energy (XP). Before any work can begin, the creator must know how to construct the potion in question and possess substantial alchemical expertise (10 ranks of Alchemy and Knowledge [arcana or nature]). First an alchemical formula must be developed to fertilize the seedling destined to be the first potion plant. This requires a month of work in an alchemist lab and a successful Alchemy check (DC 25). This costs 1,000 gp per attempt, which includes the cost of the formula. Then the plant must be enchanted and fertilized with the formula. The enchantment process costs 8 times the cost to make the base potion and follows the usual rules for item creation. For example a tree of cure light wounds fruits would require 200 gp in raw materials, drain 16 XP, and take one day to enchant. After the enchantment is complete the plant grows rapidly, reaching maturity within one week. There after it produces 1d4 potion fruits per week as long as properly fertilized with the formula which costs 300 gp per week. If not properly fertilized the plant still produces potion fruits but only twice, during summer and autumn. The potion fruits are large perfect versions of the base plants fruit and stay ripe for 1 month. |
