| The party (Dominic, Ignatius, and Jack with Drusila and Yarol) prepared for the oncoming battle with Czet and his undead horde. Dominic used scry on the death knight that they had faced earlier. They saw a vision of him leading a vast army while wielding an unholy blade, the Tooth of Vivex. Their scrying was thwarted however when a huge monstrous larva with Czet�s face spotted their sensor, and turned the holy water font to blood. The party decided on a dangerous raid on the rear of the column of undead. The speed of the army was amazing and it took them an hour to catch up with them. After burning a few hundred undead and destroying a skeletal bat with holy light, they fled back to the safety of the dwarves. The dwarves were preparing to break out of their confinement and the party decided to help by teleporting to the tunnels they collapsed. Unfortunately these tunnels were still buried in rubble and the group accidentally teleported into the Giant�s Run Mountains. After fighting through many goblins and setting off a scalding trap, they discovered a new goblin army being raised. After being located by a horribly scarred troll and running low on spells, they retreated home. Soon the day of battle came. A sinister fog rose up, punctuated by a drizzling rain of blood. A vast force of skeletons attacked the west wall, barely stymied by the party�s walls of fire. Worse, several wererat rogues attacked the spellcasters intent on their deaths. After dealing with them, Ignatius and Drusila went to the cathedral to check up and sighted a smaller force of powerful undead flanking city. As Ignatius delayed them with webs and walls of force and flame, the others hurried to help. The undead soon broke through the wall and then defeated a wall of fire. Meanwhile, the elder larva Czet teleported into the center of town, casting cloudkill on the innocent women and children. When Jack attacked the demon sent a horde of flying scythes at him. To deal with the others he summoned minor death, as he desecrated the cathedral. Jack was forced run across the rooftops shooting the blades as they came. Dominic soon made it to the undead but quickly fled the horde when the death knight attacked. Ignatius engaged the demon in a running battle about the cathedral. The creature proved resilient with powerful magical abilities. To save Drusila, Ignatius had to encase her in a wall of force, breaking the monster�s line of effect. Czets powerful jaws soon had Ignatius cornered and he hid with a rope trick. Czet soon resumed his desecration picking the huge alter stone in his teeth before shattering it. But finally Jack and Ignatius were able to battered to it into unconsciousness and slay it with several gallons of holy water. In other areas, Dominic�s battle with the minor death was suddenly halted. The death knight stopped his attacks and seemed fascinated with a bracelet on his arm. It was a bracelet with several charms, a bracelet of friends. It was soon apparent that this was what had become of Nemo, killed and reanimated by the goblin he had so hellishly tortured. Ignatius pummeled the wererat leader, Samantha, into the dust. But some off the more powerful undead and the sorceress Linette escaped, though Dominic used sending to threaten them. The paralyzed death knight was raised, releasing Nemo from his curse. The remaining undead collapsed, their power destroyed and the town rejoiced. |
