The setting of this book is in ancient China. In ancient China, girls are not allowed to study. so schools and tests for scholars are only for the guys. But in Yangzhou, the local magistrate set up a school for the girls so that even though they may not be eligible for tests but at least they are knowledgeable.
Qing Qiao always approve his sisters to go for this new school, as he feels that it is benefical for girls and it is good to have proper guidance of what they are learning. Qing Qiao is a talented young man who had got JU REN (a position needed before can go for test as scholar) when he was ten, but still he refuse to go to the capital for the main test.
But when Qing Qiao met Yu Chang , the very talented daughter of the magistrate, they had a fight. But they continue meeting each other wherever they go and had small fights throughout. Yuchang decided to have a bet: Qing Qiao was supposed to cross-dressed and to be admitted into the school.
