Hunter is a professional which proficiency test are carried out annually. As it is very hard to become a hunter and the prestige that it carries, thousands of people flock to take the test annually, even those who had made several previous attempts. The tests are normally physical and is a test of survival of the fittest.
After knowing that his father is consider as a top-notch hunter, he became determine to became a hunter and register to take part in it. From the hunter test, he became good friends with KURAPIKA, a boy who had lost his village to a group of top-notch bandits(he wants to arrest them ), LEORIO, a doctor who wants to earn as much money as a hunter so he can cure patients who had a certain disease free of charge and Killua, a killer who join the test for fun.
The four went on separate ways after the test. Kurapika went to work as bodyguard to an influential man to get more information on the group of bandits. Leorio went on to became a doctor, and only Gon and Killua stick together throughout.
Later in the story, the four came together again when they want to know more about a game that Jin and a group of hunters had design which allows player to enter the game physically and from there they met the group of bandits....(This part is very long)
As the machine for playing the game is too expensive, they went to work under a wealthy man who specially employed very powerful men to play the game for him in order to be the first to finish the game ( Large amount of money and treasure involved)
The game is of a RPG format where ones get stronger if they play more. They need to gather 100 cards to complete the game and the cards have different degree of rarity index. This game is designed to train Gon to a Strong man.
The story has not end, up to volume 21 currently
Comment: Like this book a lot... Being a fan of YU YU HAKUSHO as well, but this book carries more substance and a stronger story line.... don't think this book will end abruptly
