Ocean Waves Of Fear
Obession can be dangerous. Even deadly.
As the sand slipped through his shaking hands, he thought of the heart that had broken. He signed as the gentle waves of the ocean washed his bare feet. He picked up the ring out of his shorts pocket and threw it into the deep blue nothingness. He crawled over as to retrieve the ring, but collapsed and held his blonde head in his quivering heads. He couldn't believe he had let her go. He had done it because the media had found out about her. He had done it because the fans had found out about her. He thought he did it to save her from being hurt, when in reality it was in order to save himself from having to be man enough to handle standing up for his love. He sighed deeply. "Nick?" An unfamiliar female voice cried out. Nick lifted his head and gasped.
"What?" He yelled. He studied the girl that ran torwards him. She looked strangely familair. His heart began to beat quickly. It had to be her..it just had to be..so he could make it all right again.
"Nick Carter?" The girl said, as she ran over and nearly trampled the poor guy.
"Uhh..yeah." Nick said, swallowing his disappointment with a gulp of sea air.
"Oh my God! Can I have your autograph?" She said, practically bursting his ear drums.
     "Sure." Nick sighed.
"Here, sign this." The girl said, giving him a Backstreet Boy CD booklet to sign and a blue gel pen. "I heard about you and your girlfriend breaking up. I think it's for the better. I mean..she was such a slut. I read all the websites on her. I never got a chance to meet her. I probably would have killed her." The girl laughed half heartedly.
"What's your name?" Nick interrupted, as he reluctantly signed the booklet.
"Sandy." She said with a squeal. "I am *so* your biggest fan. I mean..I'm so much better than that chick you were dating. I always thought that you and I would get together. I mean, I always get your name when I take those quizzes about 'Which BSB Is Your Soul Mate'. I know we're meant to be, Nick."
"Thanks..." Nick said, trying to force a smile. He gave her back the booklet and she pounced on him and hugged him.
"Oh my God!" She exclaimed. "This is awesome. It feels *so* right." She said, as she held Nick tighter and tighter.
"Umm..yeah." Nick said, trying to pull away without being rude. "Glad I could be of assistance."
Sandy slowly tightened her grip on Nick, inching closer and closer towards the waves of the ocean. A frightening smile came across her lips.
"You know what? I love the ocean too! That's why we should be together." She squealed, as she inched even closer, dragging Nick with her.
"That's nice." Nick said, choking. He tried to pull away once more but exhaustion wouldn't permit him.
"I love the feel of the ocean on my face, don't you Nick?" Sandy said, as she hold Nick's head by the waves. "Yep, forever. We'll be together forever."
The salt burnt Nick's eyes and his throat as he coughed and choked on the water. He violently tried to fight he girl, but his attempts were futile. He felt his lungs filling up with the cool ocean water as Sandy pushed him deeper and deeper into the waves. The cold water and her manaical laughter and chattering sent chills up and down his stressed spine. He felt everything slipping, as the water rushed about him. Quick flashes of his life went by. Dimly lit memories filled those images of the mixtures of confusion, happiness, and total unhappiness and depression. The Boys, his partners, his brothers, appeared in vivd images. Sometimes the images portrayed them as being the brothers they were andj sometimes portrayed them teasing him until he was in tears. Finally, the blurred images of his life began to sink away. One final imaged appeared, however. It was an image of a beautiful girl in a prom dress. Her date, himself, was blurred out of the picture. Her face was full of mounful tears obviously reflecting the loss of some great love; the loss of his love.
A sudden burst of energy caused Nick to throw his head back from the waves and knock Sandy off of him. Exhaustion wouldn't permit running, but he had to fight it anyhow. He ran and ran and ran. Fear caused him to run faster than ever before. He ran until he could run no more and collapsed onto the beach about ten feet from his house. He managed to crawl inside of his house and shut and lock the door. He fell to the floor, panting and gasping for air. All the water came rushing up as he spit it all over the linoleom of his screened in porce. Face down in the water and left over sand,  he slipped into an uneasy sleep.
When he awoke, he was fully aware of the pain in his chest, eyes, and throat. He dragged himself up and proceeded to clean up the mess he had left. He figured Sandy had given up on the chase. He then slipped into the shower and cleaned off the remaining sand. Afterwards, he slipped into his room and fell on the bed. He took one look at the ceiling and looked over at his dresser. The same picture from his memories was there in the silver frame. The girl in the prom dress stood proudly with Nick by her side. He made a note to call her in the morning.
