Untitled 3
She walked into the crowded room and glanced around at the sea of familiar faces.  She noticed Lauren Roberts, now Mrs. Bradford, the wife of the famous millionaire.  She saw Robin, her good friend and confidant, until Robin slept with her father, breaking up his once happy marriage.  There was Michael, her long time crush, until she found that he only wanted her much more attractive older brother.  This was a room filled with hurt and despair.  Funny how no one remembers me, she smirked.  Then again, after the death of Janet and her own fall into depression, she would be surprised if they even recognized her.  Her decent into darkness had awakened a side of her that she did not know existed.  At first, it had frightened her, the sudden lust for close touch and passion that abruptly stopped when she was close to her height.  Many times her guard would be penetrated against her conscience, but fuelled by her unconsciousness desire to be held.  One must give and take, she thought.  She wanted love, and she gave as much she could, until her morals kicked in, and then she ended it.  She had only really loved on of them, Antony, and in the end, they had just used each other.  He was there, near the bar, purchasing drinks for his wife, the one he had left her for.

Smiling, she closed her eyes, and whispered word of power.  She could feel the edges of her form slowly dissolving her aura until she was sure he was invisible to the eyes in the room.  She passed unseen among the party goers, stopping at each little group to hear the latest gossip.  Laura Bradford is secretly seeing Jos, her private pool boy, for midnight rendezvous, while her husband is doing the same.  Robin, now estranged from her dear husband, is a successful porn star.  She snickered, for she knew it was bound to happen.  As she passed by Michael, she slapped his ass.  He turned around to see who it was, and was face to face with Father James, who dislikes homosexuals.  She smiled as her trick, and made her way towards Antony.

Daniella?  She stopped suddenly.  Who could have seen her?  Only those who truly wished to find her would be able to see past the haze of the spell, she knew no one that would have wanted to see her.  Slowly, she turned around, and found a pair of deep green eyes.  Those eyes seemed so familiar to her.  Scattered pieces of memory had awakened in her mind, as she remembered the face that belonged to those eyes.

Darien? she whispered.  His eyes brightened at the sound of her voice.  How could he have seen me, unless he was searching for me with his heart, she thought, But why?  A few years ago, they had begun to see each other, and while she enjoyed it while it lasted, they had ended abruptly.  He was one of the good ones, she thought as she smiled, One of the ones who got away.  The thought crept in her mind. No, she reprimanded herself, Im the one who leaves, always.  She felt the coldness overcome her heart as she willed it to turn to ice.  It was now involuntary, since for the longest time she forced herself to hide all emotions. She smiled to appease the stranger from her part.  Darien, its such a surprise to see you here.  How are things? she asked casually.

Things could be better, I suppose.  What have you been doing? he replied.

Oh you know, finished grad school, fucked a bunch of guys, you know, the usual.

Youve changed a lot since I last saw you.  You seem so different.

Yes, that tends to happen to people.  Especially when they try to forget.

I have to admit, I couldnt forget about you.

Thats funny, she replied with a smirk, I completely forgot about you.  She pushed past him and headed to towards the coat room.  He grabbed her arm, and she whirled around, glaring at him.

  Please wait, he said

Wait? she growled, You want me to wait? For what? For you to get your head straightened out?  For you to exhaust all the whores you have lined up?  I gave you some of the best days of my life.  You threw me away like a used toy.  Well, I got tired of waiting by the phone for you to call.  I moved on.

Daniella, please calm down, he whispered, looking around at the silent faces that were now watching.  She shook his hand from her arm.

Stay out of my life, Darien.  If you know what is good for you.  She turned around, and walked out the doors, and into the cold, dark night.
