The Train
"Well, here we are," he said with a heavy sigh.  They heard the piercing sound of a train whistle come from the train yard.  Gray clouds covered the sky, misting the earth with rain.  He carefully set her cranberry over-night bag in the only dry spot on the floor that  he could find.

"I want to thank you again for taking me to the train station." she said, trying to hold back the tears that had begun to sting her eyes.

"Remember to give me a call when you get home."

"I will," she said with a small smile.  He leaned forward to embrace her.  She placed a gentle kiss on his cheek.

"I wish you could stay."

"I wish I could, too," she whispered in his ear, a tear falling down her cheek.  She felt him tighten his arms around her.  He let go as the train pulled into the station.

"Good-bye, Daniella."  He forced a smile.

"Good-bye."  She boarded the train and took her seat.  He watched as the train pulled out of the station.  "I love you," she mouthed from the window.  His heart raced as he ran down the station stairs.  As he jumped into his car, the rain began to pour down.

He pulled into the parking lot of the next station stop.  Jumping out of his car, he ran to the platform.  A lone figure stood on the platform, dripping wet.

"I decided to stay," she said, "I just couldn't leave you."
