My name is Ula. I'm 23 years old, and I live near Montreal,
Quebec, Canada, with my parents, three sisters, one brother, two cats (Dusty Miller and Buffie
Bluenose), and one dog (Reuben).
I'm currently in my first year in a Computer Science program at CEGEP in Montreal. I've got a really extensive CEGEP background. I first started CEGEP in fall 1994, in Science, spent a year in it, didn't like it. Then the next year I switched to Commerce, had trouble in calculus so the year after that I was in Social Science (same as Commerce but no calculus). So that was my first three years in CEGEP. Being that a DEC in Social Science can do nothing for you but get you to University (which is alright I guess but most people just do one more year of highschool than us Quebecers to get to University), I decided to try a Special Care Counselling Program at another CEGEP, (this was a career program, so there was a chance of getting a job afterwards). I discovered that I wasn't right for that area after trying for 2 1/2 years at that, so I took a semester break off, and decided I had to do something so I applied for Computer Science and I got in. And I'm doing pretty good, so I guess it was worth the long years in CEGEP. Oh yeah, and meanwhile the last 3 years or so I have been taking a course at a university every so often, since I practically have my DEC in Social Science (but actually don't, I have to do one little test first). If ever I decide to go back into Special Care Counselling I only have to do about another year, so in the end I could end up with three Cegep diplomas. (Most people only go for one).
I started a job as a cashier at a computer store in November 1998 and finally quit in November 2000. It was not the best kind of job there can be, the people who work there were ok, but it ain't that much fun getting yelled at by customers just because they have to wait in line for two minutes. I wish people could learn to be a little patient.
Summer 2001 I worked at day camp as a shadow for a couple girls with Down Syndrome. It was fun, just really really hot outside.
One of my closest friends, Erika, got married on July 13, 2001 (it was a Friday). I was a bridesmaid. Cool... Actually it was a lot of fun.
