Chapter 3
Theft
It had been a day and a half since Sora’s disappearance. The other Digidestined were becoming more worried than before. It Was late afternoon when Matt sat down beside a tree trunk and looked at the sky.
“Maybe Sora is up there.” His eyes slowly filled with tears and his head dropped as he sobbed helplessly. Biyomon looked down at him with her bright blue eyes.
“We can’t give up Matt. Sora is out there and we have to find her before an evil Digimon does!” Matt looked up at the Pink bird and wiped his eyes free of tears.
“What if one already found her and destroyed her?” He looked back down and sniffled. “With our luck, Sora’s probably dead and rotting at this very moment!”
“What kind of friend are you being Matt?! Giving up hope when one of your dearest friends needs it most!” Gabumon scolded walking up to his partner. “We have to keep good faith in her safety, or she might die!”
“What if she’s already dead?! Huh?! Then what?! We continue this quest without her?!”
“We have no choice. As someone told me once, ‘The Quest must go on!’ Or something like that. But the message was, we have to continue no matter the circumstance!”
“I don’t know Gabumon, if I can’t Digivolve, I’m not very much use to anyone!” Biyomon moaned from atop her perch. “All I have is my ‘Spiral Twister’ attack! And that doesn’t do much damage.”
“We may not have any choice Biyomon.” Matt sighed, looking at the ground. “All we can do right now is search and hope that she’s okay.”
“AHHHH!!!” Sora yelled at the feeling of hard rocky whips smacking against her back.
“Wall mimics!” Pixie Yelled to what looked like three men made form melted rocks and their feet had melted into gel. Their heads snapped up and they looked at their superior through the sockets on their heads. “take a break. You are dismissed for the moment.” The Wall Mimics bowed and slid out of the training area. “How do you feel, Sora?” Sora looked at Pixie with now hate-filled furious eyes.
“I feel fine. Why do you care?!” She snapped in response. Pixie took a step back, obviously both pleased and appalled at the way Sora was speaking to her. Pixie grinned evilly and took her step back, seeing as to her training worked.
“Sora, I believe it’s time to tell you what you must do.” Pixie said as she turned to go out of the room. Sora stood up and followed her out. “Sora, I want you to take the crests from the Digidestined.”
“Why?” She hissed.
“Because, If you don’t, I’ll kill you.”
“You think I’m scared of your threat?! Well, I’m not.” Pixie smirked and closed her eyes
“Oh, Sora. It’s not a threat. I will destroy you if necessary. But, I trust I won’t be having any problems from you, now will I?” Sora swallowed hard, trying to show no more signs of fear.
“No, Mistress.” She replied. Pixie raised an eyebrow at Sora and continued walking.
She stopped in front of a door and looked at her suspiciously. “Sora, you must never, EVER enter this room.”
“How come?”
“Do you Dare question me?”
“Well, if I’m not gonna go in there, I might as well know why.”
“This is Master Moo’s quarters. No one enters unless they are asked to. And believe me, no one wants to go in there.”
“Who is this, ‘Master Moo’ guy? Is he a cow or some- Augh!” Pixie struck Sora across her face before she could utter another word.
“How DARE you insult Master Moo in such a manner!” Pixie hissed, her eyes narrowed in the most hateful of glares Sora had seen. “You’re lucky he didn’t hear you and come out here and destroy you himself!”
“Well, Pardon ME for wondering!” Sora wiped the fresh blood off her cheek and glared back at Pixie with rebellious eyes. Pixie didn’t seem to mind and began walking once again.
“Sora, come.”
“What do I look like, A dog?” She said under her breath and obeyed Pixie’s command. Pixie lead Sora to an empty room with a glass tube in the middle of it. Sora sighed and thought she was to be put in the tube as punishment for insulting Moo.
“Into the Tube Sora.”
“Why?”
“Once you are inside, I shall tell you.” Sora rolled her eyes and stepped up to the tube. A hatch on the side opened up and she stepped inside, the hatch closing behind her. “You’re mission, is to take the crests from the Digidestined. How you do it is entirely up to you. You are to show no signs of weakness whatsoever. Do you got me?!”
“Every word.”
“I will be watching you, Sora. So don’t think you can trick me.”
“what makes you think I’ll try?” Pixie didn’t answer, instead, she closed her eyes and made an orb-like object out of thin air just by waving her hands in a circular motion.
“Teleport.” She said. Pixie threw the orb at the tube, which wrapped around it and temporarily blinded Sora from the light. When Sora opened her eyes again, she was in a dense forest, surrounded by trees. She then recalled being in a forest before Pixie had taken her for training. Sora heard a sound that reminded her much of a person crying. Curiously, she walked toward the sound to find a young blonde man being comforted by what seemed to be a blue and white, four armed dog. She searched through her memory and recalled this person and dog-like animal to be Yamato “Matt” Ishida and Gabumon. She walked closer to Matt and Gabumon and put a hand on Matt’s shoulder.
“Yahh!!!” Matt’s heart gave a leap to his throat as he looked to the being touching his shoulder. Once he saw it was Sora, he jumped up and hugged her tightly. “Oh, Sora! I thought you were gone forever!”
“Of course I ‘wasn’t gone forever’.” She said in a slightly mocking tone. Matt raised an eyebrow and put his hands on her shoulders and leaned back.
“Are you okay, Sora?” He asked, concerned.
“Yes, I am fine.” Sora now sounded very, very defined, not natural for her attitude. “Why do you ask?”
Matt raised his eyebrow higher and then shook the thought from his head. “No reason at all.” He leaned over and kissed her cheek repeatedly. “God I love you, Sora.”
Sora swallowed hard and remembered Pixie’s words about the mission. ‘Can’t be weak like him. But, on the other hand, he is kind of cute, and She did say any way possible.’ “I, love you too Matt.” He leaned over and wrapped his arms all the way around her once again, giving her a warm hug.
“Sora!” Biyomon called, just awaking from her nap. “You’re still alive! I knew you would be!” Biyomon fluttered down from her branch and onto Sora’s head.
“Oh, Biyo.” Sora lifted one of her hands and stroked Biyomon’s head. Biyomon smiled happily and hugged Sora’s head.
“I missed you Sora”
“I uh, missed you too Biyomon.”
“It’s getting kinda dark guys, maybe we should find a place to crash.” Matt said gazing at the sky.
“Yeah I guess it is.” Sora replied.
Minutes later, Matt had set up a fire in a the middle of a small clearing. Gabumon and Biyomon were fast asleep, as Sora sat on a log gazing at the stars. Matt sat down next to her and put his hand on hers gently, staring at her as he did so. Sora looked down from the stars and looked at Matt blushing lightly.
Matt looked up at the stars as Sora had done moments ago. “Stars are beautiful tonight.” Sora glanced back up at the stars, smiling slightly.
“Yeah, I guess so.” Sora looked down from the stars and away from Matt thinking of her next move and what to say. She thought of something and smirked cunningly. She looked at Matt with this smile on her face as he stared at her. He swallowed hard and stood up from his position on the log and backed up a small bit. Sora stood up also and advanced toward him, with a sorrowful but confused look on her face.
“Is there something wrong, Yamato?” She questioned.
He stopped backing up and began to sweat. “No. Nothing’s wrong, Sora.” The cunning grin returned to her face as she walked toward him. When she reached him, she put her arm around his neck and leaned in and pressed her lips firmly against his and began kissing him passionately. This caught Matt off guard and his eyes went wide. He then figured it was a act of bravery on Sora’s behalf and began kissing her back, sliding his hands to her back, sliding his tongue into her mouth as well. Sora smirked and slid her hands down the collar of his shirt and began fishing around for his crest. Once she found it, she pulled it up slowly, trying not to let him notice. Sora lifted the crest’s cord above his head and slipped it over her’s, and around her neck, next stuffing it in her shirt. Matt opened his eyes curiously, wondering what she was doing to his shirt. Sora slid the arm she had used to steal the crest back into his shirt, stroking his shoulder blades gently. He closed his eyes again at the feeling of her palms on his shoulder blades. Minutes later, Matt broke the kiss slowly, still wanting to feel the soft tenderness of her kiss.
“That was, wonderful Sora.” he said, gazing into her dark brown eyes. Sora smiled and stared into his sapphire-like eyes.
“Yes, it was.” She replied, unable to say anything else. ‘But not as wonderful as you might think, Matt.’
Sora and Matt stared at each other until they each got tired and fell asleep.
“Huh?!” Was the first thing out of Matt’s mouth as he awoke from a dream. He glanced at Sora’s angelic body leaning on him and he blushed lightly. He felt somewhat thirsty and didn’t want to wake her up. So he just lay her on her right side and put his hand on her ribs gently. She let out a small groan of pain and Matt lifted his hand immediately and leaned over her. Sora lifted her hand to her left cheek and gave another groan.
“Stupid Pixie.” She muttered quietly. Matt’s face turned serious as he thought about this.
“She must be dreaming of knights or something like that.” Matt chuckled and stood up to go to a small creek to get a drink from. As soon as he found it, he took off his long green sleeveless turtleneck shirt and bent down to drink from it and splash his face free of sleep. He stretched and looked at his reflection in the creek’s waters. But something was missing from the picture. He leaned in farther to get a better look at his reflection. He suddenly felt as if his neck were somewhat lighter and he rubbed it. He scanned his mind for what should be there. Matt’s eyes flew open wide as he came to the realization that his crest was missing. “What the, where the Heck!? My crest is gone!”
