Yamato's Secret
"No, Takeru, I'm going out with Sora, so I can't take you to the ice
skating
rink tonight, OK?"
Yamato Ishida brushed his hands through his spiky do, he was wearing baggy
black cargos and a baggy gray long-sleeved shirt, whose material was thin
enough that anyone could see his well formed muscled underneath.
"But, you PROMISED Matt!" TK shouted.
"I know, look, I have to go, I'll take you ice skating later." With
that Matt
left, slamming the door behind him.
The air was cool and crisp and the nights in Odaiba had already become
freezing cold. Christmas decorations were already decking December light
posts. Matt couldn't help but feel a little merry.

Takeru Takaishi spoke clearly and as calmly as he could to the Kamiyas'
answering machine:
"Hi, Kari it's me Takeru, sorry I can't meet you at the rink today like we
had planned, I-"
TK didn't want to betray his big brother, and he didn't want Matt to put his
life on hold just to chauffer Tk around, so he told the answering machine:
"I just have a cough thing and I don't wanna get sick, call me back, k?
Bye."
What am I expecting anyway, TK thought, Matt's gotta life, too.

"TAI?! What are YOU doing here?" Matt fumed.
"Cool it, Matt, I-" he was cut short as Matt punched him in the jaw,
HARD.
Sora gave a yelp and Matt's eyes widened.
Tai just grabbed his coat and walked out the door.
"What was that for Yamato?" Sora questioned.
"What?" Matt asked in wonder couldn't she what Tai was? He was taking
her.
"What 'What?'?" Sora asked, "You just sacked Tai for no reason!
He was just
stopping by on his way from dropping Kari off at the skating rink!"
"Yeah, yeah, stopping by to do WHAT Sora?" he rasied his voice and
was
yelling at her.
She was equally angry, and shouted, "Matt! What do you think? Just 'cause
another guy stops by, does that mean that he's automatically got his hands
all over me?!"
Matt looked down sheepishly. "And on top of it Matt, it was TAI."
"Exactly one other reason to deck him."
"MATT he's your friend!" She gave him a disgusted face. "God,
Matt, what's
happening to you?"
"He replied, "Nothing's happening, Sora."
"Matt, I know you to well to say that nothings wrong-"
She was cut off by a slamming door.
Matt couldn't believe it, what exactly was up with everyone? He sat on a
bench near a fountain that was no longer in use because if winter freezes. He
was hunched over in thought with his hands clasped tightly, shivering. He
couldn't go though, not home, and not back to Sora's…
Suddenly he heard soft footfalls and he turned around. There stood Sora in
jeans and a TIGHT green long-sleeved shirt. Over the shirt was a black
unzipped jacket. In her hands was another jacket, this one lined with fleece.
She put it over his shoulders and sat down next to him on his left side.
"So what's up, Yamato?" she asked without looking at him, instead
looking at
the fountain. When he didn't reply she returned her gaze to him and held his
chin softly and kindly with her left hand and pulled his face towards hers.
"What's wrong?" she rephrased the question.
"I'm afraid to lose you and…"

Tai had just called to tell TK that he would tell Kari about his message and
not to worry that she had been stood up. TK thanked him.
Poor Kari, TK thought as the doorbell rang. He was still to short to look out
the peephole so he just opened the door.
Matt stood there. "Takeru," TK heard as he matched the voice with
that of his
brother's, "we hafta talk. But first, what did I tell you about answering
the
door when no one is home," he tried to joke.
TK didn't laugh, he didn't even smile; he simply moved out of the way to let
Matt in.
"Look, Takeru, I'm sorry about today, it's just that when re parents got
divorced, WE got split apart, and now that we're back together, I don't want
to lose you…or anyone else," Matt drew in a shaky breath and continued,
"Sora
and I were planning to go on that date for a long time and I didn't want to
cancel and lose her too, and then when I got there, there was Tai, I just
didn't want to lose her, even thought I knew I wouldn't, there's just this
alarm that goes off in my head that says 'DON'T LOSE HER' I just can't help
it, it keeps me from getting hurt."
"Matt, I'm sorry too. You shouldn't have to schedule your life around me,
I'm
just being selfish."
Matt was distressed, "No TK. Its not like that, you're not being selfish,
I'm
being to possessive." Matt turned away from his brother. He had always
tried
to be so strong in front of TK when he was younger, but now he let out a
muffled sniff and a single tear rolled down his cheek.
"I'm the one who's selfish, TK."
Takeru stood behind his brother and gave him a big hug to try and comfort
him, as Matt had done so many times for TK.
"I love you, Matt."
"I love you, too, TK."
