Our society has ways to curb our thoughts by implying a majority consensus on a topic programmed into the system, (kind of like programmed archetypes). For instance, when meeting people, we impose an instant personality on a subject to make it easier on ourselves to grasp the environment. Humans are creatures that require familiarity, so they use stereotypes, some that may be unconscious to them. Here's an example:
The UFO/alien abductee: in our society, this person is presented as a white trash hick from West Virginia living in a trailer ~OR~ a white male nerd with no friends who is addicted to the computer, books, and Star Trek.
The conspiracy theorist: they are represented as a psychotic, scarey, schizo person who believes anything and everything is against them, also see Nerd desription above.
The sensitive person with problems: Usually represented as a white lower middle class girl who is somewhat psycho with scraggly hair, and who writes in her journal fervently and has few friends. Go see the movie "Girl, Interrupted" which made me want to puke.
THESE UNCONSCIOUS STEREOTYPES ARE DESIGNED TO KEEP YOU AWAY FROM THE PEOPLE IN SOCIETY WHO ARE DIFFERENT!! WE HAVE ALREADY ACCEPTED "MINORITIES," BUT THEY DON'T QUESTION ANYTHING. THESE PEOPLE DO. THEY ARE DANGEROUS TO THE SAFE LITTLE SOCIETY CREATED FOR YOU TO STOP THINKING!? |

ALONE by Edgar Allan Poe
From childhood's hour I have not been As others were - I have not seen As others saw - I could not bring My passions from a common spring - From the same source I have not taken My sorrow - I could not awaken My heart to joy at the same tone - And all I lov'd - I lov'd alone- Then -in my childhood - in the dawn Of a most stormy life- was drawn From ev'ry depth of good and ill The mystery which binds me still- From the torrent, or the fountain- From the red cliff of the mountain- From the sun that 'round me roll'd In its autumn tint of gold- From the lightening in the sky As it pass'd me flying by- From the thunder, and the storm- And the cloud that took the form (When the rest of Heaven was blue) Of a demon in my view- (1829) |

Sleeping in the depths of isolation trying to wake from this daydream of illusion. -Dream Theater, "Misunderstood" |

So here it is, another chance. Wide awake you face the day. Your dream is over, or has it just begun? -Queensryche, "Silent Lucidity" |

Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things that escape those who dream only at night. -Edgar Allan Poe |

The key to discovery lies not in mathematics, but in the imagination. -Brian Herbert

Humans are different in private than in the presence of others. While the private persona merges into the social persona in varying degrees, the union is never complete. Something is always held back. -Brian Herbert |
