There are many things written on subliminal advertising in the media and advertising. They use unconscious stimulus pairing and other psychological tricks. Here are some I picked up while watching TV for 30 minutes one day (2/13/03):
CNN: Before the commercial break, a camera shot of a miniature remote control tank on a miniature setting of grass, sidewalks, and some trees (looks residential). There are words on the screen that say "Coming up...Fun for all ages."
SlimFast commercial: There is an African American woman talking about the slimfast milkshakes. She says "I like these" as the picture flashes to a banana dropping into a milkshake. Why banana? Why not, strawberry, cherry, chocolate, vanilla, mocha, cappucino flavored etc etc etc....
CNN: During the news, footage of increased military in Britain and world. People are walking around with soldiers and cops around. Shot of a soldier with a machine gun standing in front of a public square with big clock in background (Can't tell if its Big Ben). The newsreporter says "There may come a time where we don't even blink at images like these, but its still a long way off." WHAT??!! When soldiers and cops are standing around in OUR public places with MACHINE guns, we better start wondering who they are guarding against.. US??!! I don't think we should EVER get used to that.
