| 5 Questions With Ashton Kutcher 1. How do you juggle your film work and "That '70s Show"? Kutcher: Well, I shot `Just Married' at the same time I was shooting the show. It shot mostly in L.A. I had a hiatus week and went over and shot nine days in Europe, and I came back to L.A. I would work from about 8 o'clock in the morning until 4 (o'clock) in the afternoon on the television show, and then from 4:30 in the afternoon until 4 (o'clock) in the morning on the movie, and I would take 15-minute military naps during the day to keep going. They'd be doing a lighting setup on the movie and I'd just take a nap every two hours. 2. Did anyone inspire your physical comedy? Kutcher: I thought Chris Farley was about the funniest guy I had ever seen when I was growing up, and I really got most of my physical comedy from watching him. I remember watching him do this Chippendales dance with Patrick Swayze on `Saturday Night Live' _ it was his first sketch that he had written _ and I just thought it was the funniest thing I'd ever seen in my life. ... Just committing to your actions and committing to a scene, I think I learned it from him the most. 3. Are you aware that some people believe there's a homoerotic subtext in "Dude, Where's My Car?" and if so, does that bother you? Kutcher: I actually had it recently pointed out to me, and I'd never thought anything about it before it was pointed out to me, and never thought anything about it while I was making it. I don't think that it's really subtext. I think everything that's in that movie is blatantly obvious. There's the scene where we kiss and we're trying to outdo Fabio and out-cool him more than anything. Somebody told me it was inspiring a big fan base because of that, and that's great. That's great that people enjoyed it. When I watched it, I never found anything that deep or inspiring. 4. Do you have trouble saying lines such as "I'm what's known as `man- pretty'? I heard that line on "That '70s Show" and I thought it was inspired. Kutcher: I have no problem saying that at all, I think it's really funny. I actually say that to my friends now. They laugh at me and then abuse me. ... I think it was hysterical. I had nothing to do with it other than the fact that I said it. 5. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Kutcher: In 10 years I probably want to be retired. I want to be a full-time student and just study and learn and be a father and settle down. When I have kids I'll be a full-time father, that's my intention anyway. |
