Week 1495
It was a mostly dismal week last week. Tag Line finished 7th out of 8, Karlasohhkay finished 12th out of 13, Rose Garth finished 12th out of 14, and the only somewhat bright ray was Public Ball finishing 3rd out of 8. On the other hand, I cleaned up at the betting window, and I got some of the sim cash that was promised to me for doing the tipsheet, so at least it was az financially rewarding week, if not an aesthetically pleasing one.
For the coming week, I'm racing Tiny Locomotion in what may be her last race with my stable unless she does something spectacular. With odds of 24/1, expect her in the auction next week with no reserve. Sky Bob gets in over his head with 74/1 odds, and Top Rain goes off at 37/1, but I hope she'll fare well nonetheless. Joker's Meals goes off at 6/1, and I think he has a real shot at winning. I tried to get Idea Ernie into a race, but both MSW's were crammed, so we'll try to get him off and running next week.
I put Karlasohhkay in the auction this week for $40,000, and haven't gotten a bite yet. If that doesn't work this week, expect her in again next week, along with Tiny Locomotion. With a little extra cash in the coffers, its time to dump it into improving the stables.

Week 1488
Sister Celebrial won one! Sky Bob came in 4th. Joker's Meals came in a dismal 11th, though. Starting to have second doubts about him. Tiny Loco still isn't sharp ... next week she either races or hits the auction bricks.
This week, I'm running Tag Liner @ 23/1, Public Ball at 5/1, Karlasohhkay at 26/1, and Rose Garth at 19/1.

Week 1481
Idea Ernie came in 7th, and Top Rain ran a miserable 9th. While I made some whopping bets, and scored heavy on one, the other petered out for another net loss this week. Still, the stable is alive and has some cash, and for Week 1481, I should have some of my better horses primed and ready to go.
Decided to race Sister Celestial, Sky Bob, and Joker's Meals... everyone else gets a week off and hopefully will retain their "sharp" rating into next week. Sister Celestial isn't favored, but I think she can pull it off.. and let's hope the other two are respetable in their races too.

Week 1474
Much to my amazement, Sky Bob actually won one! And Public Ball cruised in with a 3rd! I'm not setting any records yet, but at least I'm making progress in the right way. My only big problem last week was that while I touted some bets, I forgot to actually enter them in the game. Considering I lost with those bets, its probably a good thing.
This week, I'm running Idea Ernie, more to check him out than to net a purse, and I have Top Rain running in one of Fabman's memorial races. She's a longshot, but I wouldn't be surprised to see her make a leap of faith. I debated whether to run Joker's Meals, since he's sharp, but I like him better on 28 days than 21, so he gets an extra week, and we hope he can make an impression in next week's race.
I've started to figure out my rotations. Should have Sister Celestial making her return, Sky Bob coming back to challenge, Tag Liner making a go of it, and Jokers' Meals trying to pull in some green. For week 1488, I should be running Tiny, Karlas, Public Ball, and Rose Garth. Should be a couple of fun weeks.

Week 1467
Last week was disappointing, as my favorite failed to dominate by a half length, Karlasohhkay failed to perform well, and Tiny Locomotion made a good case for putting her into the auction. This week shows several possible starts, the most likely being Sky Bob, who keeps trying, but just doesn't get anywhere. As of writing this, I'm planning on running Sky Bob, Public, Ball, and Rose Garth, all of whom are sharp. I might let Rose go another week, and will probably hold Sky Bob for this race and then put him into auction.
One of the perqs of doing a weekly tipsheet is that we're supposed to get $25,000 a week to put it up. Sure would be nice to have the $100,000 due from last month credited soon, so that I can upgrade my stable.

Week 1460
Last week wasn't a cause of celebration except for one small ray of hope. The handicapping results were disappointing, with a large loss pushing me into a net negative situation for the first time during this campaign, and most of the horses finished below expectations, except for Public Ball, which surprisingly came in 2nd. Rose Garth, my new horse who I had such high expectations for, came in dead last, although, to be fair, I told the jockey to ride this as more a workout.
This coming week provides a surprising opportunity, as Rose Garth and Idea Ernie return from their outings with continued "sharp" conditions, and as Karlasohhkay comes back into "sharp" condition two weeks in advance of where I expected here. She runs well with a 14 day rest, so I'm considering letting her run again. Tiny Locomotion and Joker's Meals are also sharp, and look to be ready to run this week. While I don't have high hopes for Tiny Loco, I'm putting my hope on Joker's for this week.
By this time next week, I'm hoping to have made some decisions as to which horses I'll hold onto, and which ones are going to the auctions or claimers. Additionally, its about time to figure out what kind of rotation I want for each of my horses, so I should be working that out.

Week 1453
Part of the new design with this page is that I'll post my stable report at the end of each week's comments. In this way, you can track the recovery of my horses from injuries, training conditions, etc. with the raw data that I get.
The week of 1446 actually met and surpassed expectations for the first time in quite some time. I got Karlasohhkay many weeks ago, and didn't realize she was injured, so its been a long and impatient wait to see what she can do. She surprised almost everyone, me included, when she clocked in at third, sending the trifectas over two thousand. She's used to getting 14 days of rest, but I'm thinking of running her on 21 days, and getting her short but expensive allowance. With this week's race, her value jumped from $5,000 to $60,000. Her speed jumped from the 50's to 75 in this past week's race. First race out, and she's in the money, has paid for herself and then some.
Tag Liner jumped from $120k to $150k with a jump of speed from the 50's into the low 60's. He's making solid progress for a 2 year old, and he's looking at 21 to 28 days rest. I don't want to push him too hard right now.
My entries for week 1453 should include Sky Bob, Public Ball, Rose Garth, and Idea Ernie. Sky Bob hasn't been terribly impressive so far, and will probably get sent to a low lever claimer. The sloppy track slowed down Public Ball, who will hope for some nice Connecticut turf. This will be Rose Garth's first race for my stable since I claimed her for $2500. While she's been running low level claimers recently, her speed has can be in the low 70's, so I'll run her on dirt at 6.5 or so, probably in a starter allowance if I can find one. Idea Ernie has sat on his comfortable butt too long. I've trained him to be sharp, but he hasn't hit that, so out of the nest he goes this week. He may not get in any of the races he enters, but he's getting pushed.
Tiny Locomotion and Jester's Meals should be ready to go for week 1460. Tiny Locomotion gets a few more shots before I send her to the claimers, and as I just bought Jester's Meals at the auction, I'm hoping to have him sharp for next week. His speed can hi the 80's, so it will be a short allowance race somewhere near Nevada.

Week 1446
Last week was surprisingly successful for this stable. While the horses went off at 99/1, 99/1, and 69/1, Top Rain gave an excellent performance, and finished 3rd. Top Rain will probably continue to go sprints and perhaps move up in class. Only question is whether to give 14 or 21 days rest. Tiny Locomotion was handily beat, but still picked up a 4th place, and some cash. The only real disappointment was Sky Bob, who shows no possibility at longer distances, and will revert back to short claimers until someone decides to take him off my hands.
For this week, 1446, , Tag Liner and Karlasohhkay are sharp, and will be going for me. Tag Liner was undefeated at low level claimers, but didn't fare well with the big jump in class last time out. He can race any length, is equally able on dirt and turf, and should clock in with a speed rating of about 50. On one hand, I want to race him in a short race and all out, but we'll see what kind of races there are to choose from. As he's my most valuable horse, it doesn't make sense to enter him into any kind of claimer, so the other hand says to watch out for nice little allowance races, probably at a longer distance this time.
Karlasohhkay came to me as a claim, if I remember, and she severely needed rest. 70 days later, she's sharp and ready to go. Not sure how I want to treat her, as to whether I want to run her full out or not at this point, but I'm thinking a nice little short $6 k allowance or $30k claimer would fit right in. Since Karlaetc. has only race on dirt once in her short 7 race career, I expect to run her on dirt sometime soon just to see whether she might do well there.
By this time next week, I'm hoping to add another horse and set up my racing rotation. And let's hope that sister celestial starts perking up. She's getting old, and I want to get a few more races from her.

-- Not unlike the result of my tipsheet, Public Ball's was a success, but a very modest one, not unlike getting a kiss from a chimpanzee. Yeah, its a kiss, but its not worth much. Still, the stable made money this week instead of losing it, so I'm happy with that. I was able to get rid of Fainting Fob -- stable owner snowshow bought him at auction, and I fear that the $1 they paid was way too much. As you might recall, he was hurt, and wasn't going anyplace for a number of weeks. Add to that problem the fact that he wasn't that swell to begin with, and I think I came out ahead. I was also able to supplement my stable by getting Rose Garth at auction for $101. Although this horse had a lowered speed rating in his last race during week 1425, his performances are generally in the high 60's to low 70's. I'll give him a bit of rest, and then see what we can do to make some money with him, either through winning or through a claiming race or two.
This week, I have three horses which are sharp and ready to go. Tiny Locomotion may have some promise, so now its just trying to find the right race for her. Sky Bob is back, trying to notch up his first win, and Top Rain will be going for the money this week if I can get her into a race. My previously blocked horse, Idea Ernie, still isn't sharp to go, so look for him next week (week 1446), along with Tag Liner, and the week after, look for Rose Garth and Karlasohhkay to make a run in week 1453.
Week 1432 -- Yes! I hit 20 races, and now I can get on with the business of honing my stable. There have been a few changes in the lineup this week, Emeline claimed my friend, Saint Rum, which was a surprise in that he hasn't done all that well. Perhaps she's seen something that I haven't, and I wish her the best of luck with him. Fainting Fob was pushed too hard by me, and was never a spectacular horse to begin with. He ended up injured after last week's races, which seems to be a habit with him. I've put him up for auction in his injured condition and stable owner snowstorm picked up for one buck. Again, best of wishes to the new owner -- I'm just glad its not me.
This week, I'm only running Public Ball, which is going of at 29/1. I expect that it will do better than the odds suggest however, and I'm looking to be able to make some money on this race by finishing in the first 5. Idea Ernie was my horse blocked until I reached my 20th race, and unfortunately, he isn't in sharp condition, so he isn't going this week.
For next week, I anticipate seeing Idea Ernie go, possibly Tiny Locomotion, and perhaps Top Rain or Sky Bob. I also am looking to pick up a couple of horses at auction.
Week 1425-- With 15 races run, I'm poised to get my 20th race this week, if I can get all of my 6 potential horses into races. Four of my horses should be able to make the pull, since the potential fields are already small. Unfortunately, I probably have to risk Public Ball and Saint Rum to fill that fifth race, something I'd prefer not to do if it can be avoided. They just ran, and I fear that running them again will result in injury or a forced layoff. Still, who dares, wins, so I'm entering everything I have available, and we'll see what happens. If this gambit doesn't work, its going to be a slow and painful week around the stables next week.
I'm bringing a number of my horses down in class, and as a result, we should see better results this week, instead of the typical end of the pack in the races I've run recently. As I get closer to 20 races, I have to adjust my strategy from that simple goal to now building the stable.
Week 1418 -- Apparently, Sister Celestial hurt herself while resting this week. Just luckin' fuvley. Tag Liner's the best horse I have running this week, but he's mostly overmatch in his race. Still, one keeps hoping. Saint Rum is just marking off time until I hit my 20th race, I think. Next week, I'm hoping to go with Sky Bob, Tiny Locomotion, and Top Rain, which would bring me to 18 races. If Fainting Fob and Tiny Loco or Saint Rum aren't tuckered out, I'll run an extra two horse to get to my magic 20. Once there, I can unload some deadwood and get Idea Ernie into the mix.
At this point, I'm starting to think about what kind of rotation I'll have when I hit 20 races. I'm thinking I'll go with the 21 day rotation for most of the horses, and then gear up or down from there. I'm also looking forward to seeing what Karlasohhkay is capable of. Just a shame about Sister Celestial, though. I figure that will put her out of the mix for at least 7 weeks.
Week 1411 -- All three of my sharp horses from last week tanked, and Although she was listed as "sharp", Sister Celestial is now looking at a long rehab after running too much. Taking a lesson from that, I expect to rest Sky Bob for this week, and hope he's ready to go next week. In the meantime, Public Ball can go for a race, and I'm debating on whether to run Tiny Locomotion. At least, I've learned that horses be "sharp", even though racing them during that week will result in disaster. Maybe a claiming race for Tiny Locomotion.
Week 1404 - Concerned about Fainting Fob and Karla etc. -- both aren't healing as west as they should. Saint Rum, Sister C, and Sky Bob are looking good, and I think I've found good races with chances to win. Next week, I'm looking to Tiny Locomotion and Top Rain to make a go, with Tag Liner and Public ball in week 1418.
