The ancestry report uses 'Ahnentafel' numbering. This means that a person's parent's numbers will be twice as large as the person's number. So if someone's number is 15, her father will be number 30, and mother will be 31. Her child will be number 7 ect...
I think Christian started the name changing. common sense tells you if they came from Germanic speaking Switzerland, then they would most certainly have trouble spelling the name like it sounded in their mother tounge. Thus you have the many variances on the spelling. It eventually evolved into SHIVELY, But you'll notice several places on Census Records and such that alot of spelling difference between the same families. Shively, Shiveley are the most current variance but most of the line from John and Eve have stuck to the Shively spelling. other variations: Sheybly, Scheibly, Scheibley, Sheibly, Sheibley, Shiveley, Shivley, Shively, Schaeublin, Schaublin, Scheublein, Schiblien. The ones ending with N are Germanic forms, The rest are Americanized forms with SHIVELY as the end result. Although Christian II shows the Shively Bullheadedness... in his will you see variations in his own hand, Hehe... But for the most part Shively was the name they must have agreed upon. Most of Christen the II's children went by Shively, so by 1745 they have mostly stuck to the Shively spelling.
